"If you’re NOT paying silly money then you WONT be staying in the village I’m afraid "
. Very true. The harsh reality of life. If you want to enjoy Cap you simply have to accept that it is expensive. Visitors are unlikely to find a value for money holiday. People visit for fun and pleasure. The original poster might of course be lucky.

Absolutely, especially since you can get 1500 euros or more for some tiny apartment. The season in Cap is very short and demand very high during it. Most of July is high season so accept that the prices are going to be silly.

We paid €1200 for a week last July via Booking.com. It was pretty good.

For that money you can buy a huge tent, ( Berghaus 4xl) has room for 6 or more, and mattresses and stay in the adjacent campsite. Lots of fun happens there, good clean showers, and a short stroll to the bay of pigs.

. You would first need to add the pitch costs of staying at the Camp Site . They are 364 Euros for the week in July. Sleeping in a tent is not exactly comfortable and having to use shared toilets and showers is hardly an attractive proposition. If you strike lucky you can hardly entertain people in your tent.

Been visiting Cap for nearly 20 years, bargain/reasonable is not a word associated with accommodation BUT where else in Europe can you find the Cap experience, some places try to emulated but sadly fall short.

Visit Cap enjoy the naked sexy fun with folk from all corners of the world but cheap it will not be, the memories if nothing else are worth the extra expense.

"What is the bay of Pigs ? "

It's what happens when people try to translate a foreign language by looking up each individual word in a dictionary without checking the overall meaning.

"Bunny Beach" might be a more meaningful translation, because it's where people fuck like rabbits...

Cochon or cochonne as an adjective in French mean flirty or promiscuous. La baie des cochons could be translated as the bay of pigs like the one in Cuba but thats not what is means to anyone French. The bay of promiscuity is much closer to a correct translation.

I've visited Cap a few times, and personally, I would go a little earlier in the summer, in June. The vast majority of shops, clubs and bars will be open as usual then, but June is a lot cheaper than either July or August, and the weather will be just as good, and there are still plenty of people about, though admittedly there's a lot more 'weekend breakers', which can make Mon-Thu a bit quiet.

Within the village, I've found that Port Soleil is more reasonably-priced than Port Nature. But it's all relative- you pay for the location of being in a village like no other, and it's still going to be dearer than even accommodation in Grau d'Agde, 3-4 miles away.

Best tip though to save money is if you are staying in an apartment within the village, do your big supermarket shop outside. There's a big difference between the Super U a mile's drive away, and the Spar which is just 10 minutes walk away. Though you won't be able to shop in the buff...

As for 'cochon', it means more accurately 'dirty', as opposed to 'coquin/coquine', which means 'naughty'. The nickname is a bit of a wink to the one in Cuba, but there's a bit of truth to how it describes the action on there . 'Dirty beach' might be a good translation.

Agreed! Let's not call it that any more. What do you prefer?

It just used to be called the adult beach which described it very well.
