English speakers gathering spot at Cap d'Agde

I'm always looking for other English speakers to make friends/socialize (not with any expectations of more). I go annually to Le Cap, but my French is not great (though I manage fine each year for the basics of eating and play); it would be nice to have a more in-depth discussion with English-speakers, compare notes, make friends, etc.

Maybe I've missed it, but is there a particular bar or pub where English-speakers tend to gather?

(I vaguely recall years ago that I heard that Johnny Wokkers was the gathering spot for English-speakers, but it's now closed).

Bodega bar in Port Ambone would be a good start.

"Bodega bar in Port Ambone would be a good start."

While the Bodega is popular with Brits, most people in there aren't British.

Like every other place in CdA it's full of French people behaving like they own the country...

Bodega is probably best bet now.

The advantage of Jonny Wokkers was that it wasn't that big so relatively easy to find people to chat to.

Bodega is much larger and the music much louder so it's a bit more challenging, but not impossible to find English speakers.

Bodega staff are outstanding too.

What an excellent question -from our 'first time' experience during the last week, the vast majority of people in Cap are French, also, bear in mind that not all the people there are swingers either; many of them are 'vanilla' naturists. Our experience has been that if you don't go out there with some pre arranged and reliable UK swingers to hook up with when you arrive, you may have to get used to your own company. We booked a week's stay, 4 days of 'solitary confinement' was sufficient for us, so we handed back the keys on our apartment and we're currently enjoying our holiday elsewhere.

First and formost it is Not a swingers holiday village it's a Naturist village.

The only reason people can dress slutty and kinky is because showing your genitals in a naturist village is acceptable.

So people should get Naked ( that does not mean wearing a stupid frilly dress=so wrong.

Its like going to a fish restaraunt and complaining about the fishey smell!

Think you might of arrived with pre conceived ideas, there is every nationality, quite a few French as it is in France, a very friendly bunch of folk generally if you make the effort so will they.

Been coming 20+ yrs and always enjoyed, one or two iffy apartments but we learnt.

I think you have to put a bit of effort in - looking on the forum and "who's near". We're pretty socially inept, but we still managed to meet plenty of people every time we went.

@ Quoted poster immediately above. Not sure if it was you who contacted us outside FAB and the Cap Whatsapp group to pretty much tell us that we should have 'manned up' at Cap. But in case it wasn't. We didn't put a 'laundry list' of of our attempts to meet people who might be interested in playing with us on our previous post. But of course we contacted all the couples via 'who's near' feature if we fitted their 'looking for' criteria. We were met with a resounding silence, the only exception were a couple who did eventually reply just as we'd packed our bags and were locking up the apartment. In short, we were reporting our experience. Our expperience was that if you don't have some reliable people you know when you arrive, you may well struggle. So previous poster, if you got dick fatigue from so much playing there, that's something, but it doesn't change our experience of Cap as first timers which was the subject of the OP's post.

OK, I think I understand more. We went for the sexy atmosphere, the chance to be naked, and the chance to chat with some interesting and sexy people. We got enough playing to keep us happy, but then frankly we don't need a massive amount.

If you're there mainly for the shagging then you're right, you do need much more set-up before you go.

You will be supprised how many europeans speak English.

Dutch and germans regulary talk to each other in English.

We notice its the sociable couples who make the effort to get conversations going .

Most couples sit in silence with a glum expression on thier faces .we are on our 36th visit and always manage to comunicate and have fun .

We love Cap.

Been here 4 years now. (Jul/aug/sept)

Despite being gay it’s very open.

Great to speak with non English.

Limited to only 3 bars but I hear the straight bars are all definitely friendly.

We've been going for over 20 years now. Have a place outside the village for last 18 years. We go 4/5 times a year. Absolutely love it and never had a problem. It is France- learn some basic French to show willing. Cap is the United Nations of swinging. It is simple-make an effort and the universal language of love and sex kicks in. Maybe Cap wasn't for you.

We started every evening at Bodega and met loads of lovely people from all over the world. The conversations were always interesting and engaging. We made an effort to speak the local language, which was appreciated—even if we usually ended up switching back to English! The social atmosphere in the evenings was fantastic 😊

No Cap, it turns out, isn't for us. But not because of a lack of elementary French. IMO, I speak better than basic French; Ms L2L has lived and worked in France, has a house near La Rochelle, and would probably be regarded as fluent by anyone who isn't a native speaker.
