PDI 12-26th Nov 24

We'll be travelling down from Cherbourg into Spain and looking for things we shouldn't miss.

Already got the Nuclear Submarine in Cherbourg, Mont st Michel and Orador sur Glane on the list.

Whilst we like castles and chateau we prefer the more unusual things if anyone has any suggestions please ?

If you like to wander around towns then whilst in Manche you could consider St Lô, Coutances, Granville and Avranches. The museum at Dead Man’s corner in Carentan is also well worth a visit.

Not sure if you know but you can walk across the bay from Genets to Mont st Michel which is well worth it, though do a guided tour so you avoid the quicksand areas…it’s about a 5km walk you get some time on the Mont and then a bus takes you back to the car parking area.

Bonne vacances.

Blois, France

The Bayeux tapestry whilst you're in Normandy then go south to Le Mans where the museum is open all year round. If you go to Arnage corner you can drive on part of the circuit for free.

Still further south are of course the châteaux de la Loire, Chenonceau, Chambord, Chaumont sur Loire and Amboise are all good to see.

Oradour sur Glane that you mentioned is very thought provoking for what happened there but its also interesting to see how they lived and how the town is laid out.

You could also go west to La Rochelle and Ile de Ré, both are great holiday destinations.

Pretty much all the beaches on the south west have naturist beaches..

There are also some prehistoric caves etc.. try all aubeterre and St Emilion for neolithic churches dug into cliffs
