Village camping area Oltra information

Hi guys any of you fab friends! regular at Oltra campus we thinking of taking a caravan and leaving it long term eg store it in France. Then have delivered to the campus for when we arrive. Approx we say on site June till September. Any information be useful.

We are in cap flying over 16th August happy meet campus couples. We like to plan for next year..x happy to give my number to WhatsApp or call.

A lot of people do exactly that, Brits and French.

There are numerous storage sites (gardiennage) nearby, for that reason.

We did it for several years, but in a different location.

Next one best way to get to cap towing a caravan! And cheapest time to do it? We may take out of season road trip down .

We use Newhaven - Dieppe as we get a discount but it depends on your starting point in the U.K.

Head towards Orleans then Clermont Ferrand.

Motorway tolls apply until Clermont, then it’s a free ride all the way to Cap on the A75. And you get to use the bridge at Millau, which is peage but well worth the fee.

Unless you really want a road trip of several days, motorways are easily the quickest and are no more expensive than the stop/start of the the main roads when towing through towns and villages. And additional overnight fees etc.

France can be a great road trip, although the northern half can be a bit flat and boring if you’re just passing through. Lots of historical places to explore if you have time though.

Some people take the eastern route via Lyon. Interesting drive but adds a lot of kms to the journey.

You could always mix and match your return trip.

As to the cheapest time to do it, some campsites close out of season. Off season fees will help.

Motorway tolls are the same all year.

Get the ACSI book which gives lots of info for your journey.

The real cost is pitch price at Rena oltra we are here at the moment as they say sex sells pitch price 400 euros a week do the sums but it's worth it

yes August extra expensive but March till October 25 weeks approx £3000 but can you leve it on site if you not there 2 or 3 weeks eg nipped home. Or let a friend or family use it?

Eg rent a pitch all season and share it with a friend or family

Staying at different times! could that work.

Not sure about leaving it there while you’re away. Think they might insist on the owner being present.

Think the same applies to sharing it.

Good route BUT remember it goes over the massive centrale so you need a powerful car to tow a van. It's less steep but also more toll roads via Lyon. Have a break half way down and enjoy the scenery either route

That's true and one of the reasons we use it. It's also the most direct route for us and has the cheapest tolls.

Approaching Clermont and then all the way down, it has the most stunning scenery.

As long as you carefully match car and van (and aren't overloaded...!) it's fine.

However, we do see an awful lot of Dutch and German modern day travellers in old converted VW's and Mercedes blowing smoke on the hills..!!

Hi guys any couples travelling down early next year? Or later this year fancy a road trip we thinking of towing the caravan behind are campervan. Drop it In storerage in France. Drive back in camper or could leve till May time and have few days in cap! So no real plans . We have parking toilets and showers in Staffordshire couples only if anyone like call say hi to plan a trip.
