I am in receipt of some rental income in France and it is declared on a French tax return . However I was recently asked for a VAT number by one of the booking platforms ( I am assuming that they report all their payments to the relevant authorities as they scheduled any payments made to me ) . On the form that I had to return there were only two options . 1 . Enter a French VAT number . 2 . State that you were not registered in France but supply a Uk VAT number . There was no option to state that you are not registered for Vat . As I have all my income etc recorded on the impots-gouv portal , if VAT registration was necessary I thought that a government website would flag it up and advise me .

Is a small business ( micro bic ) required to register for VAT in france
