We are visiting Cap at the end of August, we understand how to get a COVID test before leaving the UK but where can we get the relevant tests for returning back to the UK? Where’s the nearest test centre to Cap, how much does it cost etc? Thanks in advance

I am in Cap at the moment, if you are double vaccinated you don't need any tests before you leave the UK.

You will need to have a digital copy or a print of your NHS double vaccination certificate and a sworn statement to say you are covid free. This will have to be shown at the departure and arrival airports.

My friend is returning to UK today so she got an Antigen test yesterday. The return to UK travel tests are €25, we found two centres in Agde which do them. Both speak good English and were very helpful. All you have to do is scan the QR code at the testing station, that will forward you to a web page for you to fill out your details (also in English). They call out your name when it's your turn, have the test, 20mins later you get a negative or positive result, pay your money and they print a certificate valid for 72 hours.

There is a test centre in Cap beside Le Juels, but the spoken English is not so good, but it appears to be the same as the Agde pharmacy, last night a test station had been set up by Le Glamour.

Also the good news is the bars, restaurants and clubs are accepting the NHS Vaccination App, if you let them scan your QR from the second dose, it gives a green light and a ?? so no need to keep paying for tests whilst you are on holiday.

That's how it is today, but things keep changing so best to get the latest info before you leave the UK

Return to U.K. travel test centre is literally outside the gates about 100m past the reception point, next to la poste, (doesn’t show on google naos)they were brilliant with us, spoke excellent English and very friendly either antigen test or PCR, since introducing the Covid pass we have seen increased requests to see it, even vanilla fraise asked tonight abd essential for foam, pool party or clubs

Yes, as our previous post.. bars restaurants and cafes you need QR code for double vax proof, we used the tous covid app at night but NHS paper bar codes at pool parties so didn’t need to carry phones

You need to show a covid cert. on your phone but it's a bit hit and miss insomuch that sometimes they ask to see it and sometimes not.

However most bars, restaurants etc don't have the propper App to read your Covid cert. so just flashing something at them is enough whether it's official or not!

Thanks for the info, lot of help.

The concern we have is getting a positive test on our way home, obviously social distancing isn't always possible in Cap so chances are higher. Has this happened to anyone or any protocols in place? I.e specific isolations? Or will it be a desperate look out for accommodation (due to having to check out) and rebook flights?

We have the same concerns for our trip to the UK in a few weeks time.

If your test is positive, it should be easy to find accommodation in Cap in early September..

If we test positive it's easy, we just re-book the ferry and stay at home until we test neg.

We definitely found it hit and miss and were surprised that it n our second visit to the chicken shop outside Kama sutra they now have the app and asked too QR, even refusing a group of Americans who didn’t have it, they were complaining loudly (as they do in thier group) but sounded like they were having lots of problems … maybe a reaction to Emily in Paris

Oh the chicken shop outside Karma sutra was where we had our very first meal in the Cap. Still one of our favourites, cheap and cheerful! Maybe they just didn't want the Americans in there in the first place! lol

Emily in Paris, after a couple of episodes you just wanted to through her in the Seine!

Yes the requirements for entry are 14 days, you have to sign a declaration form available via gov.uk links and you could face isolation on arrival.

A bit confused. I recently looked at the direct.gov Web site. As I understood when returning to UK we don't need a test until 2 days after returning. Pcr test, pre ordered before leaving UK a ref number as proof to be written on the passenger locator form

Arriving in the UK from an Amber Country & double vaccinated:

Take a non NHS Covid-19 in the 3 days before arriving in the UK, with a certificate in France, Spanish or English.

Pre-book, pay and have a booking reference for a day 2 Covid test after return to the UK.

Complete the travel locator form within 48 hours prior to departure to the UK

Exactly as above and no exceptions, there were a couple at beziers airport on our return, trying to board the flight without a negative test result…. point blank refused even though they were only in France for a 1 day trip to carcassone!

Yup, sums it up nicely...

W're getting our "French" tests done in our local pharmacy, have yet to order (and pay in advance for, of course!) our "2 day" tests in the UK.

Any (cheap but reliable) recommendations for a provider?

We used Corona Focus, reasonably complete forms, tests arrived day after arrival and very simple instructions, just awaiting results now

When getting tested for official lateral flow test for return to the Uk do they let you do the test yourself or do they do the swabbing for you? Also has anyone used the self tests you can buy and take with you??

That does the swab for you and provide a certificate, self tats aren’t acceptable as far as we know

We took antigen tests with us in July which we booked via Qured. Did the test via a pre-booked online appointment whilst someone watched us do the swab, write a code on the testing cassette, show them, wait 30 mins then email them a photo of the test result alongside our passport. Cert came though in 30 mins. British Airways website shows Qured as an approved tester and also gives you a 15% discount code to use. We had to wait 15 mins past our booked online appt and that was the only issue we encountered. Thankfully we had a good WiFi signal!

We’re due to fly back from France shortly and again have brought Qured antigen testing kits with us and will book Day 2 PCR’s so we can put the reference number on our return passenger locator forms.

They do it for you, it's less than 10 seconds up one of your nostrils...

Don't be fobbed off paying for a PCR test, they are twice the price and not necessary, a LFT with certificate is acceptable. LFT is 25.01€ don't know what the 1cent is for but that's the price. I used eurofin for the day2 test, very good service £54.00 DIY kit. The whole journey to Cap and back was so easy, I have rebooked for two (fri-mon) weekends in September.
