Netflix - French films

Jump to newest

I often watch foreign language films on Netflix or Channel 4 (I don’t have French tv in France as my aerial blew off the roof in a storm and I haven’t got round to fixing it yet).

Any good films you can recommend?

I just watched one on Netflix I liked - Who You Think I am - with Juliette Binoche. If you are a woman of a certain age I think you might enjoy it, maybe men might not.

A couple of the old les charlots films from the 70s can be good for a harmless giggle .

And one loosely translated as

The man who could walk through walls .very entertaining

Cap d’Agde, France

For a taste of the Provence, Marcel Pagnol's 'Jean de Florette' & 'Manon des Sources' are classics.

More recent films such as 'Amélie' and 'Delicatessen' are amusingly off-beat and for reality 'A Prophet' is, to my mind, the best French film of recent years

Yes I saw that a couple of years ago - I read the book first but the film didn’t disappoint.

I’m a big fan of Audrey Tatou and Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Mine would be La Cité des enfants perdus, although unlikely to find on Netflix

"I used to have a secret crush on Gerard Depardieu"

The best Depardieu film ever has GOT to be "Tais-Toi!" in which he plays the village idiot teamed up with tough gangster Jean Reno

Yes I saw that but years ago. I think he used to be a terrific actor and had such stage presence but has gone to the dogs. I watched something on Netflix about Marseille and it was unwatchable.

Good old Gerard hails from our nearest city of Chateauroux and in his early days was both a rent boy and I grave robber so the rumor goes!!!!!

Great actor.

Tony

Couldn't agree more. In fact, they should have shut it down one series earlier. Also, it was a rookie TV writing error for Laure and Gilou to shag.

Twickenham

Not sure about Netflix but Hidden (Cache) is an excellent film as is 36 (a good gritty cop film)

I watched the remake of "Miami Vice" with French audio and English subtitles which turned it into a gritty French crime drama.

Spiral is excellent- nobody exclaims 'Putain" better than Laure.
