Can anyone recommend a few hotels for next year please? I have seen a post to say you really want to be inside the gates? Another that says Heliopolis? And a few Port areas but would love a few hotel names we can look up and try and get something booked.

Thanks!

The cheapest is Hotel Eve. At the other end of the scale is Ozz Inn which is exceptionally expensive. There are very few hotels in the village itself. Also check out Riads , Jardin de Eden and Natureva.

Late June is a good time as it is just before the peak season. August is the most expensive and September becomes quieter. The last week in Septemeber is dead so it is best to avoid it.

June is the mosquito season. Great big tiger ones. Their bites itch till November. The little midges bite by the dozen, but fade in a few days. If you are a mossie magnet don't come and DEET don't work.

Others will say that there is usually no bother with mossies as the areas where they breed are sprayed.

However, if we are in Cap June OR Sept then we use Odomos and it seems to work.

I usually go for five different weeks every year, one of the months being June . I have never experienced any problems with mossies , maybe it is a problem if staying on the camp site .

Cap d’Agde, France

We've been living next to the Cap for five years and mozzies have been a constant problem from as early as February to November.

This year, however, there has been a massive drop in their numbers, we've not been bitten for at least a month, perhaps two.

Not sure if this is to do with a dry summer, or wetter or less wetter spring or just maybe they too have been affected by Covid!

No, we usually stay in Heliopolis.

We think it just depends on how the little blighters like the taste of your blood. If you know that you are a "mossie magnet" and get bitten regularly, make sure you bring your favourite mossie repellent, or avoid June. This September we had no problems. All the ancestors of mossie prone locals moved to Paris years ago. Haha.
