"¦ The health authorities in France said a virus outbreak at a nudist camp in the southern resort town of Cap d’Agde was “very worrying.”" I assume you are referring to the results from the test centre just outside the entrance gate. We would need to benchmark these results against those from other villages and it would be useful to know how far away the next nearest test station was and the reasons that prompted people to be tested in the first place. Did those who tested positive live in the area and did they catch Covid 19 locally or in their county of origin. ? Unto 11 listed establishments were shut down, many people were ignoring social distancing rules . You only had to look at the area outside Melrose . The list is now 15.. Anyone visiting should undertake their own risk assessment, observe the social distancing rules and have some fun in the right circumstances. It costs around £100 to have a Covid 19 test in the UK. ( assuming you are not displaying any symptoms) . Where risks were identified in Cap , the authorities took prompt action. Those visiting have already confirmed that.

"All the media hype in the UK has killed dead our September socials with Brits in the Cap this year. " Rather than media hype, don't you think it is the requirement to quarantine for 14 days that is stopping Brits coming ?

Rather than media hype, don't you think it is the requirement to quarantine for 14 days that is stopping Brits coming ? Flew back on Sunday from Stansted to central France (Limoges) and there were 37 no shows which the cabin crew put down to the quarantine rules so I’d agree with you there Sally. T" Yes me too

Of course you’re right but we’re just highlighting the UK media putting the final nails in the coffin with their ridiculous reporting, ie, 30% of the Cap revellers having Covid. Absolute tosh!

"Certainly agree about the media hype. We could plan and work round the 14 day quarantine on return to UK, but what we couldn't work round is the ridiculous FCO advice of 'essential travel only'. For us to travel at that point meant travelling without travel insurance - a risk we are not in a position to take." Does that mean you can claim on your insurance for non travel due to FCO advice of non essential travel, as if Ryanair are still flying you loose your money if you fail to travel.

"Probably cancelling my trip now ( listed as Pat69drive ) . Whilst I can adopt to changing circumstances and keep Covid 19 risk to a minimum , and would be covered for health insurance by an EHIC card , the risk of being seriously ill and having no insurance for travel costs for return to the uk ( ambulance etc ) has made me decide that it not a risk worth taking . " Pat Think you are making a sensible decision. Let's hope 2021 brings us good news. Stay safe.

Sorry to hear you don’t feel able to go back out to your apartment. We know how much this means to you . But we think you have made the the right decision. Reports of the spread of the virus there as well as the lack of other people visiting made us reluctantly cancel for the second time this year. But we look forward to Coming to one of your soirées and seeing you next year !! "

"In this house Mr wants to Madam will put her high heel down. I very much doubt we will be down." I would go as I can manage all the risks and have no difficulty or objection in adhering to them. However as a health insurance policy is invalid if you travel against foreign office advice I decided it was not a risk worth taking. You are still covered by your EHIC card but in the event of having to return to the UK while seriously ill , you would have to fund you own return ( a private ambulance from Cap to the UK might be very costly). I have an annual policy with insureandgo . It would be interesting to know which companies other people have their health insurance with, has anyone ever made a claim and how well was it handled. I have never claimed ( and hope never to have to ) but having reviewing a few comments on another post decided to review the quality of service provided by the company with whom I am currently insured .

" We have gone with battleface as they are covering us being here against FOC advice. It is expensive, and only covers you for the time you are here, but we thought it was worth it. We’ve always bought cheap travel insurance, but this year is totally different ?? we are keeping to the rules and hope to enjoy our time here in the sun

I just obtained a quote and thought it was quite reasonable considering the circumstances. I may switch my annual cover to them next year.
