Not much happens in Mayenne full stop. And I'm not talking about clubs here. It is a lovely rural département and Laval is a nice little town.

That’s why France is great. Peace and quiet. But if you want more action, the big cities can provide what you need.

You won’t have any energy left for fun if you’re cycling all that way - they take cycling very seriously in France and are competitive

Mayenne may look fairly flat on the map but it’s very good for cycling with good roads and interesting scenery - rolling hills, forests, lakes and medieval villages.

I’m just a few km before Mayenne town.

I like to take my time. My racing days are over. A gentle 50 miles or so, shower, small beer, bite to eat & still plenty left in the tank, even at my age. There are some hills just before Mayenne - I think they refer to it as lower Normandy Alps or something?

Yes there are some mountains - Swiss Normande region, which is beautiful, and Alps Mancelle which has one of my favourite places at the top.

Glad to hear you are sensible with your cycling
