"It is on the Velo Francette route (Caen to La Rochelle) I’m going to cycle it next June & will overnight in Mayenne You won’t have any energy left for fun if you’re cycling all that way - they take cycling very seriously in France and are competitive Mayenne may look fairly flat on the map but it’s very good for cycling with good roads and interesting scenery - rolling hills, forests, lakes and medieval villages. I’m just a few km before Mayenne town. " I like to take my time. My racing days are over. A gentle 50 miles or so, shower, small beer, bite to eat & still plenty left in the tank, even at my age. There are some hills just before Mayenne - I think they refer to it as lower Normandy Alps or something?

" Yes there are some mountains - Swiss Normande region, which is beautiful, and Alps Mancelle which has one of my favourite places at the top. Glad to hear you are sensible with your cycling
