"Any news on campsites and tourism?"

Nothing will be announced on tourism until at least the beginning of June. May to 2nd June is the First Phase. During this period they will assess how/if further changes can be made in the 2nd Phase. The Minister responsible has clearly said this is going to be a very different summer and is warning the French people that its likely they will have to holiday in there own district. If they are not letting the French people move then you can be sure that they are not going to let in any "virus carrying" tourists very soon. Press rumours say September at the earliest.

Sorry to break the bad news.

The French government has announced plans to extend national emergency measures until 24 July.

Health minister Olivier Véran said the proposal would to be put to parliament on Monday. He said lifting the state of emergency, which started on 24 March, would be "premature" and risked an increase in cases.

To be honest we don’t care what they do as long as it’s in black and white and no grey areas like the Bricos supposed to be closed but being open.

Make it law make it clear and there’s no problem from us two!!!!!

Oh and macron if you read this (obv not) then keep the schools closed.

Clear as mud!

Some more now on France's decision to extend its state of health emergency until 24 July.

Although emergency powers are set to be extended, the government still plans to start lifting lockdown measures from 11 May.

Restrictions will be adjusted regionally and Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said "if conditions are met", people will no longer require permission to be out on the street.

But Prime Minister Édouard Philippe will be able "to take measures by decree to regulate the movement of people as well as the use of means of transport", Mr Castaner said.

Crèches open on the 11th of may in 66, classes restricted to ten kiddies and for single parents and working families.

Social distancing practices still to be adhered to, (masks on public transport).

Most building marchants have been open for a couple of weeks.

100km from your house rule, without attastation.

Apparently were one of the lowest areas for covid cases in France.

Everyone hoping for the summer season to still go ahead as it's a massive part of the economy here.

You may be right in your prediction, but we will wait till the evening of Thursday 7 May, when the final map gets published. At the moment, like you, we are green, but that is the date when orange gets removed, and your area is either green (good) or red ( bad). Then the decision gets made. For us, it doesn’t matter until Oltra gets permission to open.

A further prediction. Les Flics do know where your car comes from, just by looking at the number plate. So 66 (Pyrenees Oriental ) will probably not be stopped as it travels into Hérault (34). Try taking your 75 plate into the South of France. Think you may be guaranteed a fine .( 75 is Paris).

Looking at the French plague map. Under it is another set of traffic lights, giving the situation from now to 2 June. Under the heading Colonies de Vacances, Camps etc, they have red lined it till at least 2 June. Decision due end of May. Same with beaches, bars and restaurants. So it does not seem to matter if you are in a green zone. Village Naturiste looks closed, unless someone has any better info, such as having made it through the gate.

One addition. Bars/ Restaurants, in the open, where distancing is enforced, are a possible to open on 11 May. But that may change as well. Clear as mud.

"Hello we have a flight booked to the South of France the end of this month but we have not booked as we cannot find out how can anyone help"

There is no way you will be able to travel to France as a tourist in May or June. The borders are closed to any tourist. The following is what the press have confirmed about a speech made by the French PM today:-

Macron said in a televised interview: "We're going to limit major international travel, even during the summer holidays.

"We will remain among Europeans, and maybe we will have to limit that even more."

A spokesperson for the Prime Minister's office confirmed to that the travel restrictions on people entering France will continue after May 11th.

The PM's office could not give a date on when they would end but said "everything will depend on how the virus is circulating both within France and abroad".

We would agree, given that France is 2-3 weeks ahead of the UK in this crisis it may be months here before beaches reopen and some sort of skeleton service is offered in the resorts.

The chances of Brits coming to the Cap before September if at all must be quite slim sadly!

Ryanair will not cancel until the very last minute. They know the flight will nit go but they are playing the business game and delaying the start of the refund or voucher to the last minute. You will not get any contact from Ryanair until 24 hrs before departure.

Latest news.

Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron have issued a joint statement saying quarantine measures would not apply between France and the UK "at this stage".

The UK prime minister said in his address to the nation this evening that he was "serving notice" that it would soon be the time to impose a quarantine on people coming into the country by air.

Downing Street has since issued a statement saying the leaders spoke on Sunday and agreed that "co-operation is particularly necessary for the management of our common border".

The statement said: "No quarantine measures w ould apply to travellers coming from France at this stage; any measures on either side would be taken in a concerted and reciprocal manner."

The government here in France is definitely saying unlikely to expect normal holidays this year. But they have said they will issue update on 15th June about letting visitors into France. As it stands under the current rules the border is closed to tourists until 30th October.

Ryanair are due to start up 40% of flights on July 1st but I can’t see Beziers being one of them as it’s such a small airport. Our Airbnb is free cancel right up to a week before but it is looking increasingly unlikely sadly. The flights will be the only issue because if they do have it scheduled we will lose out. At the end of the day as long as everyone is safe we don’t really care about a couple hundred quid, but it’s the waiting to find out which is frustrating. X

Flying I suppose we could, but when flights from the UK to Spain are allowed then it will almost certainly be the same for Germany.

Driving would be just one long detour. If they won't let us in from Germany via Luxembourg (our usual route) then I can't see us being allowed to drive through France from the UK.

The only other alternative would be a ferry to the UK from Holland (assuming the Dutch open the border) then driving through the UK to pick up a ferry to Santander (also assuming that is running). That is about the only way to bypass France but would be a logistical and expensive nightmare.

As well as our house we also have a couple of rental properties in Spain. We need to do a car run at least once a year to carry all the bits and bobs we've picked up in Germany to take to Spain.

We usually drive down mid May, stay until late June, then stop off at Cap for a couple of weeks on the way back.

We've given up on Cap this year but we do have quite a lot of jobs to do in Spain and most of what we need is in our spare room in Germany.

The problem is the French Attestation, that you would need to get into France from Germany. Can’t see anything on there that fits the concept of going to Spain. However, the next review is at the end of May, with a possible change on 2 June. Who knows?

Unless it's one of the old plates that have the region as the last two digits, the new numbers don't change if you move departments so it's quite possible to see different regions in other departments.

Great to see that the learned and powerful in Paris have determined that the virus is actually feminine!

It's officially "la COVID 19" ahh, sooo good to know that the government has it's finger on the pulse.

I just knew that the would be a woman in there somewhere.

Pau France, NOT IN

"Just moving away from Ryanair for a moment.

Does anyone who actually lives in France have any information/updates on when the Schengen borders into France are likely to open?

I'm reading all sorts of conflicting reports.

One day Macron is saying nothing until October. Then it's going to be possible in July or August.

We really need to get to our house in Spain and preferably by car, but even if Spain allows us to do so we are screwed if we can't get through France."

The latest news from the French government at the beginning of this week was that an update on the borders would be issued on June 15th. They are waiting to see what impact the easing of lockdown restrictions have on the virus circulation. So you have another month to wait. Similar to you, I'm also waiting to drive down to my properties in Spain so that's why I'm following it.

According to a Ville Agde notice I have just seen the beaches will be open from 0800 to 2000 No sun bathing , parasols, picnics, groups of more than 10.

No mention of Pig Beach mind you

Sadly no date on the notice.

They may be opening BUT is it safe? It seems to be that the emphasis is upon re-opening however it has been closed for a reason! We’re booked into Cap but at the moment it is just too risky in a holiday environment where the focus is upon partying and intimacy. Probably quite a high probability that an individual could be infected.

I have spent most of this afternoon cancelling all trips I had planned for the UK in July. Two separate holidays with apartments in a number of locations. Internal flights as well between London and Edinburgh.

No issue with cancellations due to the virus.

My main concern is that even if we got there, would people actually want to mix? Would it be safe?

I think the same applies to those thinking of coming to France. Are you going to be safe mixing with others? In departure lounges and planes?

...just a thought

Clear as mud. Source is BBC.

The UK has denied that travellers from France will be exempted from its planned quarantine measures.

Under the plans - announced last weekend - people arriving in the UK from abroad will be obliged to isolate themselves for 14 days.

Initially, the two governments said the exemption would apply to any travellers between France and the UK, and any future steps would be taken in a concerted and reciprocal manner.

The policy attracted criticism from other governments and the EU. Some experts suggested it would be unworkable.

But today, Prime Minister Boris Johnson's spokesman said there was no French exemption, and that the original statement referred to co-operation to manage the common border.

It now appears that those exempted from the policy could include freight drivers - to allow the flow of goods to continue - and people working on Covid-19 research, but not ordinary travellers.

I think the UK gov will delay the introduction as long as they can because it would kill off the chances of flights resuming anytime soon. If everyone else has a lower infection rate than the UK then why stop people coming in to the UK anyway.

Our end of June flights have been cancelled and they offered us a free date change, when we looked last night every flight in June & July was available but showing full... however this morning July dates are available to book. We are leaving it for a while to see what happens in the next month or so

We visited Leucate yesterday, a lovely naked stroll on the beach (first time we had been there) , a few others on beach but walking and swimming not sunbathing, believe that the beaches for Cap D'agde are also open for excercise but not sunbathing

We'be stayed at the naturist Leucate beach for years now - definitely one of the best nudist beaches in Europe, if not one of the nicest beaches of any kind!

Lovely spot for a relaxng week after the fun of Cap!

Thought I would pop down today to see what’s going on in the cap. I’m lucky 10 min drive and I’m there. Just got our new pass for the year so thought let’s check it out. Not to go into to much detail. It’s really quite the weather here at mo is not great heavy rain earlier so not many nude bodies walking around. The beach is like a building site Not what I expected thought it would all be up and ready to go. Far from it. The beach at the Mississippi end looks smaller. They have had a bulldozer pushing big piles of sand into heaps. Loads of wood piled up with nails sticking out. We had a drink at what was Johnny’s. The guy there explained the beach opened on Saturday for sunbathing and not just walking and swimming as before under restrictions. Some restaurants look like there up and running. The guy said they are in negotiations to open clubs but at least 3weeks away. We have been going here for years and I know this is a early part of season. Just can’t help feeling it’s going to be a bit flat this year. Hope this answers a few people’s questions and this is purely my opinion and what I have seen. Have fun everyone and keep safe. I’m sure the good times will return. My feelings go out to the businesses that relied on tourism all along the med. difficult times indeed. .
