How about incorporating a facebook-type 'like' feature for forum posts?

This would allow a 'like' to be left quickly without cluttering up a thread with a repost simply to put a at the bottom of it, and it would save on bandwidth.

We were thinking of something like this so a would add to the total +1's that a forum post has or something which would show next to the post along with who had 'd it.

Maybe do the same with statuses too?

Would that work for people?

Sounds great - you can never tell how 'well' and positively a thread has been recieved purely by the number of posts, as often a thread becomes more of a debate between just 2 or 3 individuals.

the +1 idea would indictae the total number of individuals liking the content - great feedback for the OP and also a good indicator that a subject is interesting to those browsing the forums.

You guys do have some very good ideas you know!

Yes it would. It's a great way of linking different aspects of the site together I think, where people can quickly express an appreciation of a post or a status update and the recipient of the +1/like/ gets feedback on who 'likes' what they've said thereby leading to increased chances of arranging a meet - which is what we're all here for innit.

(maybe a bit of coding required in case someone +1's or 's themselves and then sees their own profile on the list of people who like them - that would freak me out, being stalked by myself!!)

I've often wanted to give a to a status - instead I've either had to let it go or mail them a message - I think it's a great idea for both suggestions (forum and status's)
