iPad pop up menus

When using the desktop site on an iPad, latest version of software, when looking at the messages section the search facility at the top of the inbox is expecting an input and then pops up the keyboard.

It's small but really annoying when you click into messages..

Tried turning off in all settings but as soon as there is a box expecting an inout the keyboard pops up.

possible fixes..?
