Sorting out time wasters

I have just been talking with another member on a way to tell if someone is a time waster and how to see if they are

Each profile has a arranged meet box so say if me and you both arranged a meet i tick the arranged meet box on your profile and you confirm by ticking mine then after the said date there would be options met up, no show, cancelled then at the bottom of each profile there would be a score on each then you would be able to see if they were a time waster or not then no one could leave feedback just because they dont like the person as you have to confirm you are meeting each other first

Just an idea any thoughts?

We don't think is a bad idea.

Reason we've never done something like this is on these lines:

It seems like a lot of additonal "beurocracy" for users to faff around with. Genuine people will get negative feedback (it happens, people are spiteful), which they will hate and complain to us about, and those who are bona-fide timewasters (i.e. arrange meets without turning up - of which we suspect there are less than people think) will simply remove their account and start again.

brilliant idea

so a couple arrange to meet a guy or lady,on arriving at said venue couple think, this person isnt quite what we had hoped,we dont want to play, but as the person has taken the time to turn up,give the guy/lady a high mark

guy/lady on the other hand feeling peeved the couple didnt want to play, takes a huff n gives the couple a very low score

yep, brilliant idea, where do we sign up

Seems like a good idea but is it ????

could end up that somebody could end up being given a negative but another couple could like that person, but seeing they have a negative against them perhaps wont go and see them ???

trouble with these things some people are vindictive or have a grudge, so innocent people could get misjudged. If implemented need alot of thought before doing it. One mans meat is another mans poison. x sue x

Sorry but what about those of us that don't want all the site members to see who we are planning to meet with, some of us value our privacy for legitimate reasons.

tottally agree.....privacy is a must.....dont want details of who and when we are meeting.....discretion is a must for many of us.

I just think the whole thing about have a rating etc could be open to a whole lot of abuse due to people being idiotic....falling out with people....holding a grudge.....it happens so often on these types of sites.....

I piss people of all the time due to saying no....having an opinion....etc feck can u imagine what would happen lol....

agreed. I have seen people in chat get wind of who is meeting who then it starts with e.g. "what do you want to meet him for he is a timewaster" If someone does not get along with s certain person for whatever reason, it then can start into a vendetta. Best way to go on a meet and dont broadcast who you meeting.. saves all the nastiness

I definitely don't agree with the idea of a rating score (for reasons others have mentioned). And I'm definitely not prepared to publicise WHO I meet (or even how many meets I've had - that's private). However, it could work as a percentage statistic, facilitated by the site software - something along the lines of "feedback on arranged meets - turned up 100% of arranged meets".

But then again, a score of 100% would be easy to achieve - all someone would need to do would be turn up for 1 social meet, get the magic 100%, then refuse to participate in the scheme any more. Thus keeping the magic 100% statistic, and being free to waste people's time in the future. Although refusal to participate in the scheme might give a big clue about their intention to turn up or not

Fortunately, I've not had any problems with 'no shows', cuz I have my own ways of making pretty damn sure they want to meet me, before making a commitment

Also, the site already has a facility for people to report members to Admin, if they failed to turn up for an arranged meet. I'm sure that one 'failed to turn up' report wouldn't get a profile suspended from the site (could be spite or vindictiveness). But Admin will be able to see if certain people have been reported by a number of different members.

dont really fit in with privacy and discression, where the current system which isnt perfect (but never will be) offers that

Ok..what if people could opt into the 'scheme' or opt out of it?

Would that be better?
