Unavailable profiles

I`ve noticed that numerous peoples profiles are unavailable when I click on them, even when they are posting a string of posts in the forums..

Initially I thought I may have been blocked (for no reason from my end), but, if I'd been blocked, I wouldn't be seeing their posts in the forums?

So how does that work?

Blocking means you can't view their profile, message them.

You can still see forum posts

You can still see forum posts if you are blocked from seeing someones profile. People often hide their profiles when not meeting, some are even hidden at certain times of day, probably when they are home with their families... Also... Just not being what someone is after can get you blocked, it is not a personal attack

So when someone blocks you, it comes up that "This member has hidden their profile"?

If I can see them post on Forums, can they see if/when I reply?

I understand it's not personal, these aren't people I`ve had any contact with before, I`m just confused how someone can be actively in conversation in the forums, i.e. posting replies every minute or 2, yet be hidden!

Yes, but you can't use the forums to get round the block.

When it says "This member has hidden their profile" it means exactly that. They've hidden their profile, not blocked you.

Some people enjoy posting on forums but hide their profiles so they dont get lots of messages, especially if they're not looking to meet for a while.

Thanks guys.. I assumed if you had your profile hidden, you couldn't partake in any aspect of the site, I was obviously wrong!

It usually says this user has blocked you or you have them, or words to that effect... If their profile is hidden from everyone, it says it is unavailable, as far as I know... But as long as they aren't using a forum thread to get around a block then answering on forum threads is allowed between blocked users

it keeps message levels down, you can't see them so you don't know who they are what they're looking for, how old or how gorgeous, simples

I hide my profile often, as in now, but can still use all of the site ... just means no-one can see my profile!

You can still send messages to a hidden profile. It depends on their message settings.
