"Ok a quick bit of research and it seems this is a very big issue under GDPR.. However I just hit the green arrow on our account and could only see forum posts for up to 7 weeks. (we have been posting for years) Is this a site setting? IE if we refrain from posting for 7 weeks will the posts go? .... if so, thats great and problem solved. " I believe it shows last 35 threads you've posted to rather then how long ago. So by not posting for x amount of time will still show last 35 threads. Mrs

"Also forum threads are visible to non site members as well, anyone can read them." I don't understand why fab continue to let that happen

"Why are you worried about forum posts if anyone on the site can read your profile? Mrs " Because the two are unrelated.. Imagine a blank profile but a forum post giving full bank details.... yes? Anyway under GDPR it seems you have a right to have said posts deleted if you request it. Best thing though is post random shite on posts 35x untill the good stuff drops of the list... Thanks for the info

"It only takes a minute to open a profile to read the forum anyway If you report your posts asking why you want them removed they probably will be, but it is best not to post again ![]() So you should only post in the forum if you want it there forever?

"The green arrow shows the last 35 threads you posted on, the length of time doesn't matter. If you don't post a message for a year it will still show the last 35 threads. Also forum threads are visible to non site members as well, anyone can read them." Not exactly true.... The green arrow shows the 35 posts with most recent replies. So if anyone resurrects a thread from years ago that you posted in it will appear in the green arrow list again.

"It only takes a minute to open a profile to read the forum anyway If you report your posts asking why you want them removed they probably will be, but it is best not to post again ![]() Its back to basics really, if you dont want people having info on you or know what your posting, simply dont post. Nobody is forced to join Fab and your not forced to join the forum groups. Its the same for all social media sites. If you need to stay annonymous, dont put yourself in the limelight. What makes it worse is then posting that under GDPR fab is doing something wrong. Dont mean offence by this its just common sense on how you use a site like this. ![]()

"It only takes a minute to open a profile to read the forum anyway If you report your posts asking why you want them removed they probably will be, but it is best not to post again ![]() ![]() This. Given GDPR only applies to data stored within the EU anything you post on the internet has the capability to be around for ever. Screenshots, bot crawelrs (those that don't obey a command to stay away included), archive tools all can be stored outside of the EU. Always assume that anything you post is permanent, if you don't want it to be, or you don't want it to be traced to you. Don't post it. And people wonder why I'm so careful about my personal details. ![]()

"Not sure if this comes under GDPR but I would like all of our past forum posts to be deleted but, obviously, retain the Fab account. Its probably stored in a database and is certainly possible from a tech point of view. Or maybe an option to turn off the green arrow so forum posts cant be tracked. Or change username and lose the link to posts.. Friends of ours were traced by the press via forum posts... don't really want the same. The press are more savvy thesedays. thanks for any info " How were they traced? Do you mean they were outed?

"Given GDPR only applies to data stored within the EU... " Not strictly true: GDPR actually applies to any data about an EU Citizen, wherever in the world it is held (and wherever the citizen is at the time. Whether that's enforceable is another matter. Probably not relevant in this situation, but thought it was interesting how ambitious the regulations are!

" I admit I was generalising in response to this specific situation and things that had been mentioned on this thread as it's a very complicated beast. It only applies to data collected outside of the EU in two very specific situations. Financial tranaactions where the aim is to supply someone in the EU (An American site offering pricing in € for example) or tracking. Even official EU documentation admits it may not be enforceable if anyone would even try. Data collected inside the EU and transferred out of the EU always falls under gdpr.
