As I say it would need to be water tight. But in principle, with young kids, I think it’s a step in the right direction. No though, I won’t be giving my details out

Been pushed back to around 6 months, apparently they are having issues. Basically they jumped before they could walk, the great British government at it's best.

I do agree that there should be a age thing to get on with id. Plus it's a good way of tracking some awful people out there...

A VPN (virtual private network) will get you round this. Makes it appear that you're hitting a website from anywhere other than the UK. I subscribe to Purevpn (other vpn providers are available) because i was in a hotel one night and their net nanny stopped me accessing this site. Purevpn installed, it was game on again.

It is the most pointless law as pointed out a vpn will get round it and its not against the law to use one. Censoring the internet like this is just like try to push the sea back with a broom.

That's just the new terms and conditions.

The UK+specific age restriction hasn't been implemented. Mostly because nobody in the world knows how to do so securely.

It was david Cameron's government who brought the plan for the new law. At a guess to try and keep the older tory members happy after the same sex marriage went through. I think neither theresa may nor the next pm have any appetite for it.

I'm not sure that the rule would apply to Fab anyway. FAB doesn't supply ANY content, and the rule will apply to sites where more than 1/3 of their content is pornographic.

Wasn’t aware of the proposals regards content hence asked the question. Wouldn’t have thought it would have mattered where the content source was, more that it was available and accessible by minors.

It was absolutely not needed as all land line and mobile internet connections already have restrictions for under 18s, that we as taxpayers have paid £millions to set up and manage. If adults are helping them to get around that, they would be just as likely to help them get around a less watertight system that was proposed.

After the conservative government has wasted even more of our money on this new project, it's correctly been decided to postpone or cancel it.

It was wrong on so many levels. Parents have the responsibility to control their children. It should not instead be justification to make law abiding adult citizens to have to be subject to, as well as pay for, greater disruptions to their lives. It would have made the UK become one of the most restricted countries in the world.
