Age Pass

Has offering an age pass ever been considered?

Maybe offered to site members only, a limited one use a month pass to message any member, any age. You can only send one message a month and you can only message the profile the once (to avoid monthly pest messages).

Would this be seen as intrusive? I see some status updates where people say they're having no luck, timewasters, getting despondent at the site, but I'm only a year or so above their chosen age range. A age pass that can be used the once could open up a dialogue and led to a happy ending .

As said, offered to members only, could have an opt out option on subscription so if people didn't want this for themselves or contact via the age pass they wouldn't be.

People use age range filters for a reason not to be bypassed. If you're outside their age range - move on and look for those who are looking for your age.

I appreciate that, but I have before out a status update mentioning a member, that member contacted me, we chatted, we met and had fun. I was outside her age range so even though people put age range filters they do sometimes go outside them.

Hence the lot out policy if someone didn't want it.

Exactly. THEY messaged you although you're outside THEIR age range. That means they are happy to do their own search of people they are interested in but don't necessarily want everyone outside their age range messaging them.

We don't want to be contacted by randoms that think we may meet them, despite them not falling into the category we are interested in. We put filters there for a reason, to deny contact from those we are not interested in. That's our choice, nobody elses.

Great idea although I do agree with the constraints! I've missed out by the odd year too. And think we may have hit it off?

If I wanted someone a year or two older or younger to be able to message I'd change my filters. I don't, so I don't. I'd opt out of this and I suspect most would. (in fact I'd request it be made opt in)

If I wanted a 60 year old to message me, my preference would be set to up to 60. It's not, it's set to 59. Ignoring this preference and messaging me would be unwanted and it would annoy me that my profile and preferences were blatantly ignored.

The filters are there for reasons. If every guy was able to send one message per month to ladies outside the women's filter preference..... The ladies would be bombarded due to the imbalance in numbers.

As several have said, it's people want to contact someone outside their range, they can initiate said contact.

I can't see this taking off. People have filters in place to specifically stop people out of that age range from messaging them. If there were age passes which allowed some to bypass the filtering process, there would be a lot of unhappy users. It would not be honouring the preferences that people put in place. They are there for a reason and should be respected, regardless as to whether you feel you would hit it off or not. I'd delete the message and block that profile on principle alone if that were ever to come to pass (which I'm certain it won't).

We need more filters not bypasses, it would be better if we could stop people who don't appeal to us from winking/messaging than having to include it in our profile and then getting messages accusing my wife of racism

Cannot see how this "age pass" thing could even be considered as many have already said the filters are set for a reason ( in our case its the lower end lol) it is bad enough getting messages from "Married and Cheating" despite it CLEARLY saying on our profile SINGLE and sadly there is no filter for that!!!!! without getting random messages from people whom you are able to filter out!!!
