Hi, I think it would be a great idea if the site implemented something were if you have someone on your hotlist and they add you to their hotlist that it should notify you as like a match or something? Does anyone think this is a good idea? X

Could you not have a match list in addition to the hotlist.

I like that our hotlist is private, we are infrequent swingers so we don't like to notify people that we are interested until we know we have a free night.

Otherwise we get messages like aren't you interested in us, or get accused of being time wasters.

A match list would be a great idea, especially if you had the option for messages from people you've put on it to go the top of your inbox as well?

Sounds like it might be a good idea if implemented with a proper "Not" list at the same time. As said just blocking someone makes you blind to their club visits etc.

Even with that I'd want the ability to switch it off. I have a system with my hotlist, I don't want people knowing they've been added. Or removed! It's up to me to tell people.

It is a great idea in theory.

However kick out time at the boozer and horny blokes will hotlist everybody to see who is a match, then hound them to meet "we're a match".

This in turn will stop ladies hotlisting to get matches.

A novel idea might be a wink system, where you send a wink and if they wink back, they might be interested...

I’m not entirely sure of this. Some guys would hotlist every woman, just as some guys do on Tinder. Moreover, some people hotlist for ‘the future’ and don’t want the recipient to know before they are ready. The hot list gets used for a variety of purposes, not all of which are because you think someone is ‘hot’. There should absolutely be a opt-out option, but perhaps a specific ‘match me’ feature which deals exclusively with this alone. It’s certainly going to be of much greater interest to the guys, and I’m not entirely sure that’s a good thing, given the abuse that some of them send women who have deleted or not read their messages.

I'm not counting thanks, the fact is in the small cross section of people who use the forums there are already plenty that use it this way too. So there are probably plenty more. Who'd have thought it eh?!

There are plenty of other tools that you can use like the wink system or even, shock horror, the messaging one!

No need to tell others that using the site in the way they want to is 'their problem'. and 'ruining it for others.' Im not ruining the site for anyone. There are no set rules about how to use the tools on this site.

There is no clear definition of what the Hotlist actually is.

For some it implies that the people on your hotlist is hot, i.e. sexually attractive.

For others it could mean too hot to handle like a burning ember.

A wink is more clear cut because the other person is notified. If the hotlist had been called what it is used for, it would be a stalklist / to do list / a risk to health list / a "I'd better keep an eye on this lunatic" list / an asmire from afar as I don't meet their requirements list.

What seems obvious, isn't always so.

I hotlist people I would like to meet. I have a like function on another site and get an automated message saying “xx likes your profile” or “you have a like match” when we both click like.

I understand why people use the hotlist as a notlist. I rely on the private notes function and studying a users verifications before I look through the verifiers to see who they’ve played with. Anything I don’t like is another private note. If I stumble across the profile again then I look at my notes and hit the back button or update the note.

That works for me but each to their own xx

What's wrong with just messaging someone you like to tell them that? There are also winks to let someone know you're intetested. If they like you too you'll hear back from them.

Really don't understand the fuss and need for even more notifications.

Things work perfectly fine as they are.

Next thing people will want outomatic messages for one thing and another, automatic matches based on whatever, etc. Where does it stop?

Why not just communicate like we're meant to.

Next thing people will want outomatic messages for one thing and another, automatic matches based on whatever, etc. Where does it stop?

Why not just communicate like we're meant to.

"It is a great idea in theory.

However kick out time at the boozer and horny blokes will hotlist everybody to see who is a match, then hound them to meet "we're a match".

This in turn will stop ladies hotlisting to get matches.

That’s his point...

I got in touch with Capt. Obvious. He said, and I quote "hotlist means i like you, not list means I don't. If you choose to use the hotlist for something completely different and not intended, it's your problem. He also said he would give free cheese to accompany your wine!"

The tools that fab provides are there to be used. If we (and others) chose to use them for another purpose that is our choice. Have been doing this over about 7 years and ain't gonna change. Why are some people hung up about how others use this site? Is it really anybody elses business?

"To those who are against the idea and use it as a 'not' list, why poo poo the idea because you use for a reason that it's not intended for! I think the fors well beat the againsts.

There are so many people using it that way, does it not occur to you it might be quite standard? “Oh no, sorry, get that finger away from the hot list button - I’m afraid you don’t actually like that profile so you’re not allowed to keep track anonymously”

Count back through the messages, count up for and against and then make your statement again, nothing standard about it. I say again, if you use the hot list as a not list, it's your problem. That's not what it's for. Make an alternative suggestion yourself to solve your problems and don't ruin it for those who think it's a good idea. Still can't get my head around why use it as a not list when you can save messages from those you don't like and keep a track of them from there. Seems like folk are being contrary for the hell of it!"

How is people using the hotlist as a not list ruining it for others. This is not happening, it's only a suggestion and highly unlikely that fab will implement it. My system has worked well for me. A few who I like to avoid in clubs put on their updates that they are going to x club, I see that on my newsfeed and go to Y. THAT works for me and frankly that's all I am bothered about.

"There is no clear definition of what the Hotlist actually is.

"

A definition of hot list, are you serious! When someone is described as 'hot' are you saying stay away. I don't think so. The menu box contains 'private notes'. Make a note of any profiles which annoy you, job done!

Also, a hammer is a hammer, a spanner is a spanner. If someone uses a spanner to hit a nail, fine but it's not what it's meant for!

I can only assume the rational behind this is to get round other filters otherwise one would just simply message someone if one thinks they are hot and interested in meeting.

What's not so hard about messaging someone?

I'd say within a few weeks of something like this being implemented, hardly any ladies would use the hot list for fear of being plagued with unsolicited mail.

Yes, as someone earlier mentioned, it would ruin the privacy of hotlist for many users.

But that doesn't make them appear on updates. Why are you so annoyed at how others run their profiles? It really is nobody elses business. Use the tools the site gives you as you see fit (within site rules obviously).

I'm not annoyed at how others use it, I'm annoyed at the objections to the idea. People are using it as a not list because they can't be bothered to make a private note. They're are castigating a genuinely good idea because of their own selfish methods, period.

castigating... selfish

Actually - I use them in tandem. So I'm actually taking too steps, hardly lazy. I use the notes feature a lot but if there's someone I want to keep a particular eye on e.g. a bare backer whose Veris I want to see, I keep them on my hotlist as an alert. I don't have the time to keep proactively visiting their profiles just in case.

So not lazy at all. Or is my inefficiency now going to ruin it for you too?

We do use our notes. As I said that doesnt link to our newsfeed. Do you seriously think that those that use the hot/not list are all that is stopping this being implemented. Seriously?? We will carry on running our profile our way....selfishly lol, cos it's for our benefit.

We have people on our hot list who we want to meet and will message when we are free. If we message them today but can’t meet for two months they may feel we are time wasting.

It would have to be an opt in feature if it was to be implemented. That way people can use it how they feel, or even make it a hot or watch list. Click hot it will alert them if they also click hot on yours, click watch it won’t notify who you’ve clicked watch on, but will put them on your feed, although it’s a bit like stalking really.

This thread is amusing to read, full of people telling people how the site should be and in the same breath also telling them to stop telling others how the to use the site.

If stalking users you don't like is so important to you, you should be asking for a not list rather than crying about a reasonable suggestion that many would like to see.

Just like...you?

I have seen a whole load of people who want it telling others how to use the site. And a whole load of people explaining why they'd not want to have it. But they're not telling anyone how to use the site - they're not the ones saying use your notes, don't put this person on your hotlist because you don't actually want to meet them, block the people you don't want to meet. They're just explaining how they make use of a tool.

Opt in would sort it. Although then those of us who chose to opt out for perfectly valid reasons would be accused of ruining the site.

But it's academic as I've seen very few suggestions taken up to be honest!

Regardless of how one uses the hot list. There are a handful of people on this thread that think it’s a great idea. Not many really.

I put party/club organisers on my hot list so I can easily see if there are any status updates for club nights I’m interested in. I don’t want to meet them other than that, and doubt we’d be a “match” as mainly they’re couples.

At a rough tally there are 35 for this idea and 25 against. I tried to take into account repeat posters both ways but even if I am not entirely accurate there is still far more than a handfull for it, and a definite majority.

It wouldn't matter in your situation anyway if it was an opt in feature.

You will find I replied because of the type of `nonsense`, `arrogance`, `selfishness` and `castigation` you handily display right here in your last post. Pointing out that users use and want site features applies to both sides of this argument but it seems you think only your opinion should count.

You might not need a not list but it is not right that you would choose to limit others enjoyment of the site because it doesn`t suit you. The not list is a way to keep the functionality you desire with minimal disruption and implement the op`s suggestion (which is a far more appropriate use of the HOT list).

Unfortunately the against want it all their own way, refuse to compromise and they ignore facts and common sense and keep crying out about their privacy. (a complete non issue as pointed out numerous times yet also conveniently ignored numerous times.)

"I'd say within a few weeks of something like this being implemented, hardly any ladies would use the hot list for fear of being plagued with unsolicited mail.

Yes, as someone earlier mentioned, it would ruin the privacy of hotlist for many users.

If it was an opt in thing not a single thing would change for those not opted in.

This thread is amusing to read, full of people telling people how the site should be and in the same breath also telling them to stop telling others how the to use the site.

If stalking users you don't like is so important to you, you should be asking for a not list rather than crying about a reasonable suggestion that many would like to see.

Nobody is crying about this suggestion. People are pointing out the tools the site provides and how they are used differently. We don't need a not list, we are fully capable of using the hot list for that, and will continue to do so, like others can and do. That's our way to run the profile.....and no tears shed from us.

V x

At a rough tally there are 35 for this idea and 25 against. I tried to take into account repeat posters both ways but even if I am not entirely accurate there is still far more than a handfull for it, and a definite majority.

It wouldn't matter in your situation anyway if it was an opt in feature.

I sincerely doubt this will happen. Don't get your hopes up. There have been threads in the past with alot more suppirt over the years and fab rarely makes changes.

Thing is, I don't even want or care about this feature being implemented. I also know full well that fab won't change a damn thing. (Check my green arrow if you like)

Nah your ok thanks."

How apt. I have just commented on people choosing to ignore facts.

Seeing as this is in the feedback section would fab admin like to comment whether they are considering implementing this suggestion? Also whether it is against fab rules to use the hot list in alternative ways and how this impacts on other users enjoyment.

By objecting to a feature that many people want just so that you can keep using the hot list as you were. You would rather they completely went without so that you don't have (a minor) change.

Are you CRYING for the teacher now?

We both know they are not going to change anything and that it isn`t against the rules to use it as a not list and furthermore, it has nothing to do with what is being discussed.

And decisions are based on input from users like you.

Besides, I said you would choose to limit others enjoyment. But don't let facts get in your way.

Tamworth

Opinions were asked for. They were given. Some people have become surprisingly belligerent and combative about some of those opinions.

I guess it’s good they are passionate about something!
