I feel it wold be a lot more user friendly if forum posts could be presented "Most recent at top", and "oldest at bottom". thus avoiding the need to scroll down through old stuff that the forum has moved away from and see immediately what is relevant and what the contributions to the current input is.

in short, new at the top, old at the bottom.

PS, and add an edit button to submitted posts prior to publication, available for maybe 5 minutes to the poster that spots a spelling blooper, or decides on reflection to moderate a potentially ill advised post

If you click on the newest in thread it will take you to the newest in the thread

when I open the thread it should take me to the "newest in thread", not the oldest and least relevant thread.
