Green arrow on profile

The right place

I know not everyone uses the forums but it would be good if the green arrow that appears against a username on a post that they’ve written would also appear on their profile. That way I can quickly see recent posts that my friends (or others) have commented on.

"Tbh I don’t know what any of the symbols mean on profiles....."

In this forum, do you see the green arrow to the right of the username of anybody who has posted here ?

Well if you click on it, it shows the recent forum posts of that person or couple.

I’ve wondered if this would be possible before too. It would be a helpful tool to gauge if people have similar viewpoints to you.

Hiding in the shadows

Think this would be a brilliant tool, and not just for friends.

I've received messages, done the usual profile check, all looks OK, and I reply.

Get chatting, then a thread pops up on the forum.

I see a post from that person. Oh!?!

Then I click the arrow. Oh! Oh! Oh!

Suddenly see a totaly different side to that person, realise we have completly opposite views on certain things, they've been offensive, even insulted someone I call a friend.

I end all communication with that person, then I'm one of those fakes, timewasters that likes to lead people on, then block them for no reason.

Yes a green arrow would be a great tool to avoid such situations occurring

Can we have a thread clean up tool too

I agree OP. Think it's been raised in feedback a few times in the past. No harm in suggesting it again.

But like any tool, it can be misleading at times to. I've seen great photos of some and when meeting them at a social find that I could be looking at a very different person, positively and negatively. Some people are different on forums than in real life, some subject posts are very emotive to them. They may be having a few bad days. Some are less articulate with how they say something and misunderstood by those who judge quickly, are themselves having a shit day or personalise things quickly that were never intended that way to.

Then there's only 1% of fabbers post on the forms too.

Great idea as it speeds up what is a tool already there and refined it for what it was initially intended.

I do that by looking to see who posted and whose in it already.

Yup... Can definitely see how this would be an advantage. Its easy for someone to bullshit you in a 1-1 mail conversation, but you get a more 3 dimensional image through their forum interactions.

I think this would be a great idea - I suggested it on the site survey Fabs did last year.

You can use the green arrow on anyone then substitute their username in the header address for the profile name you want to look at forum posts for. This will bring any up.

A handy tip someone told me a few years ago.

I said 5-6% and was corrected by a well known mod last week stating that it was only 1% use it. That said it would be used by many more who just read and view the forums.

This would be a very useful feature and presumably not too hard to implement considering the functionality and UI exists elsewhere on the site already.

You can search for any user's forum contribution easily already.

Just paste the following into the status bar and add the profile you're looking for to the end.

https://m.fabswingers.com/forum-poster/

Or green arrow any user and just change the username.
