I've noticed in recent weeks a lot of people asking why their thread has been closed. There are a lot of threads being closed without any note/reason put on them.

From the forum rules:

How we moderate

We don't want the forum to be over-moderated, so we'll only remove threads where absolutely necessary if we believe it to be in the best interests of the site or where we're legally obliged to. When threads are closed the mods will add a note explaining why.

By not doing this the mods are making more work for themselves because people keep posting more threads asking why.

On the whole the mods do a great job but things could be improved in this area.

I would have thought it was essential seeing as it does say that's what the forum rules state happens.

Yeah I agree it is a little irritating when you are following a thread and then it just stops suddenly .

I get why sometimes a thread is closed if the subjrct is ‘taboo’ etc . However , a lot of the time it seems to me that a thread is closed by the moderator because someone has asked a probing question or criticised the way that ‘ Fab’ is managed / designed /censored in some way .

That is not really ‘on’ and in my mind it is not in keeping with the ‘philosophy’ of a place where people are bound to be non conformist / rebellious or reactionary in some way .

It would help and I suggest be more polite to members . If there might be a way to generate an email to all who are in thread telling them it has been closed ?

If the thread was closed I am sure everyone who posted on it would notice

Everything you see a mod do is on the instructions of Admin especially about site issues. Admin ask mods to give advice on certain threads and then close the thread. It has always been this way

Well that is kind of stating the obvious .Obviously ‘ admin’ are involved as yousay to order a thread cut etc .. It doesn’t answer the question / fix the concern/ issue though !

.. in my case the category is ‘ general’ or in other words ‘ lots’ of threads . I can’t name them unfortunately.So will have to let it slide.

Regardless Think it perhaps might be time for FAB to review some policies and procedures though ?

It does seem some tame threads get closed for no reason..The problem is, what one mod might find OK, another Mod will not.I have seen some threads closed when it looked like there was nothing in there breaking the forum rules...There was one thread that closed because it became to big, were, the subject was about fantasy getting paid for sex, and in the end there were clearly real offers off cash to watch or join in being offered, yet that only closed because it got to big. Another person restarted it, but after an hour or so a Mod deleted it, but still leaving the original thread in place..My point is, there is no constancey from the Mods.

It is quite alarming how much content gets censored off in as you say a presumably free-thinking environment. Something we have had numerous conversations about with other members often disbelieving newer members.

Not sure what a polite email would achieve though.

Just a couple of points on this...

If a thread has been closed for a reason it is normally because the posts that broke rules have been removed so you probably won't see much wrong with the thread.

Also it depends on whether a mod is online/ reading the forums when online / reading the same thread as you etc as to whether threads get dealt with or not. If a mod has missed something you can help by reporting it and it will be dealt with that way instead.

I think that is done automatically when it reaches a certain size by the site..I could be wrong

Without knowing the content of the thread its difficult to say. Sometimes as has been said above the offensive, rule breaking or abusive contributions are removed. Sometimes the whole thread has to go.

You are missing the point ..it's too a broader subject, has people use Iptv differently. IE illegally ..I am only guessing why it was shut down you need to speak to admin or the mods on here to see why, hopefully they will tell you on this thread

Mundane and repetitive threads wind me up

More so in the fantasy and story thread . Especially when they should have posted elsewhere .

It pushes decent stories off the page and they get lost in the system so to speak

Debate is good. It’s posdible that some good ideas on how to tackle the time wasters May come to light instead of blaming the innocent every time.

Seems anything that remotely puts the site in bad light gets closed or deleted.

This is a type of thread that Admin have instructed mods to give advice of how they moderate the site and shut the thread.

They do a lot behind the scenes that they and it explains to people who don't think anything gets done what actions they have in place to deal with people who are not suited on the site.

Given that no-shows/timewasters are probably the biggest gripe by members you would think that the mods would allow debate and ideas to develop for the benefit of admin.

Mods don't make the decision.

Admin give instructions to mods to shut that type of that thread with a copy of their post about how they deal with reports.

Paying membership gets you no where.

We paid gold for years to support the site but when we realised the support was only one way we decided it wasn’t worth it.

We now don’t pay,

Keep our pics hidden so we don’t get any rascist abuse.

Again it’s a case of the innocent loosing out
