Maybe it's time to allow the use of emojiis rather the use one and hav it displayed as "??"

These ones available to site supporters was there long before emoji Unicode was a thing.

So maybe just allow everyone to use emojis. And replace the old site supporter ones with some other kind of perk.

There aren't any site supporter emojis, they are available to all users.

Some are displayed and you just click them, others you have to type in

ie

( violin ) - remove the gaps
