FabSwingers.com forum: Uploading photos problem

we've been trying to upload a new pic for a couple of days now without success. The photo is only 450kbs - it just keeps timing out and the connection keeps resetting. we've tried it on two different laptops as well.

Anyone got any ideas?

I get an error / get told to resize my photo when I try to upload a photo.

Use the new improved flash based photo upload tool which you can find linked from your photos page. This automatically resizes before upload so it can handle large images, you can upload multiple images and it's much faster than the old upload page.

Alternatively, if you don't have flash or want to use the old upload method: Modern digital cameras take very large pictures and they will cause errors if you try to upload them to the site. If you resize the photo to 1024*768 or smaller in a graphics programme and save as a JPG or make sure they are under 1mb in size then they'll upload fine. Most graphics software will easily resize images, or we recommend the free VSO image resizer which lets you right click and resize if you're using Windows. Alternatively, lots of digital cameras let you choose a lower resolution when shooting pictures which would also work.

Tried the flash upload - got an error:

Error #2032

Package upload error: httpStatus = 0.

if that helps...

I think that might still be too big ( I can't ask the OH as he is snoring) so does anyone else know if the pics they are trying to upload are still too big?

Yeah they are too big still.

OP - open them in any desk top publishing program and save in a lower resolution and should then be ok.

Yeah they are too big still.

OP - open them in any desk top publishing program and save in a lower resolution and should then be ok.

Should have also added to use "save as" and give them new names so you also have the original higher quality pics and save as jpegs instead of bitmaps as they are smaller files too.

Still won't upload via regular upload or flash upload.

Same error code on the flash upload as before.

Guess we'll just have to perv our own pics

Shame as we've been able to upload ok in the past.

Error code #2032 is an error associated with Flash Player, try uninstalling it - Google "Uninstall Flash via the Adobe uninstall tool" and then reinstall the latest version from the Adobe Website.

Hopefully that fixes the problem.

to unload adobe,just go to control panel,then add/remove and click remove,itl bring up the adobe site when finished removing flash,then you simply click install from adobe page for flash

Using the uninstall tool from Adobe is the only way to fully remove it from your pc, add/remove will still leave bits of it behind; so it is better to fully remove it if it is causing problems!

We've done all the above with the adobe flash player (on both laptops) still no luck. The only way I think to get our pics on now is to become a silver supporter and email them, but why should we have to do that when everyone else uploads theirs for free!

Yay! success - uploaded ok via normal upload. will try flash upload later. what's changed? no idea, only thing we can think of was cycling the power on the router...
