I think adding a rating system based upon the content of senders messages

Like 1-5 stars 1 means they didn't read your profile. was nasty or abusive or u believe to be fake

5 means they have read your profile and done as asked and message consisted of nothing u didnt want to here

Then I would incorporate a link on your rating showing a bar graph or pie chart of how many times they where rated 1 or 5 stars

I would do this so u didn't get trolls or fakes ruining people's 5 star perfect ratings

This system doesn't allow other grabber to know if that person has been blocked

At least with a rating ladies especially would be able to see if a guy has a low rating

I could be optional you wouldn't have to rate and could also incorpate a quick tick box (like when adding a photo) to say why u did or didn't like it , abusive ,didnt read profile ,

And of course keep participants anonymous

Could even have feedback box for say no thanks but there message wasn't abusive.. ect

Am I fighting a losing battle

I think it's too subjective and open to misuse. What I call a naff message might be totally someone else's cup of tea.

Same with the suggestion of making blocks publicly visible.

what one person considers a bad message might not be bad to another. unless someone is trying to be rude, they will be writing in a way that they think is good and that they would like to be written to.

Also, it only takes a couple of clicks to block anyone sending a message you don't like.

Ultimately, the serious swingers on here want to meet up with people in the flesh so it would be better to have a way of warning people if someone is flaky and doesn't turn up to an arranged meet - something like sending someone a meet invite. If they accept then after the meet, each person can leave feedback which others can view, but not the people they met. That way it will be a more honest impression.

Honestly, I can tell if someone's not read my profile by reading the message they've sent me. Even if this system weren't subjective or open to abuse, what would it add?

If there was a foolproof workable system I think the site would have implemented it by now.

The way to enjoy the site is by use of common sense. Regrettably that's the one skill a lot of people don't have......

I like the idea of an overall profile health check, incrementally being added to by users doing good things.

It needs to be easy for everyone to use it, so it's not much if any extra effort and for the health reading to be very simple to understand. Traffic lights could work, with the deepest green being the ideal - colour could darken as things improve etc.

Admin could adjust a user's colour slightly, if they get a bit concerned about someone but don't choose to delete them.
