Appearing offline

Please can we get a way to appear offline? I come on to answer messages then as soon as they see me online I get bombarded with mail.. even when I log off it still shows me as on for a while (friend checked for me) so ppl think I'm being rude by not getting back to them. The nasty messages I've had just because of this are ridiculous.

There is a lag when you log out of about 5 minutes. Just block and report abuse to admin. Unfortunately this is all you can do x

Errmmm no, Im lying, its never been a problem even as a single female. Try hiding your profile when you are not online or while yuare clearing your mailbox.

It would be useful as the only way to appear offline at the moment is by hiding your profile which isn't helpful if you want someone to read I mean look at the pics .

There’s an option to hide your profile, we did it for a few days recently and it really worked, got a friend to look for us and we’d completely disappeared, you can still go on to look though x

Agree such a function would be useful. However I think the problem only occurs because most men will only ever message when people are online. Whatever happened to searching and then messaging someone you find interesting, irrespective of whether they are currently online? Too lazy/desperate?

Hide your profile or use filters to stop the messages. Does the same job really, so you can be online and not bombarded.

when they first introduced it, there was a limited time to opt out of the feature which we took...unfortunately it no longer exists but we do have tight filters and we don't have single men on our looking for so it isn't such an issue this time around...we'd love to be able to close our inbox to anyone but friends...works well on another forum I belong to...

You can, just set your filters to block everyone and your friends can still mail you ( assuming you have mailed them before )

Because 70% of the people on here aren't looking everyday and it's a waste of time messaging someone who may not come on line again for months if at all

Hundreds on here been on for years no pics no veris half are fake rifles and keyboard warriors. I ain't got the time to be messaging dormant profiles have you?

Hiding profile still shows you as online to friends and people who have added you to their hotlist so it doesnt hide you online at all

THEY must be pretty nasty for abusing for no reply as i doubt 10 per cent of my mails are ever opened. Its a lucky day if i get one reply at all lol

Hiding my profile is a waste of time as one lady points out if your on the hotlist they still message.The only benefit of it is that no more can get you if your not on their list.

So yes we do need a function so we can be online without being bombarded.

The problem us single guys have is, if you message a couple or single female while they are off line .You know that when they read their messages the one you sent pales into insignificance.As they will probably have to read through hundreds of messages and the one you sent will more than likely get block deleted .. This is something us genuine single guys have to put up with.

Chatting to people at clubs and socials the general consensus is it's best to send a message when they're online to get a response.

I disagree, a well-thought out, intelligent message which addresses me as a human rather than a porn-site fantasy will always attract attention, whether on or offline. I realise I may be in the minority as I never get hundreds of messages and have the lifestyle to permit me to access those I do get regularly. However real life is the absolute number one top way to meet, which is why I go to clubs whenever I can.

My messages are always well thought of and I do read the profiles and put something in the message that relates to their profile. I'm never pushy and always polite. TBH I'm doing ok on here and would like to help other guys and offer advice as people have to start somewhere x

I desperately try to answer any messages i get whoever they are from but sometimes the messages are so bad they dont deserve a reply.

I would not ignore a well thought out message they dont happen often and are a refreshing change to the just plain disgusting ones.

Which is why i feel that its better not to be shown online as it gives you more time for the genuine ones .

We chose to opt out too, on our couples profile and on our single profiles too.

It’s a shame that fab don’t offer this option to all members. One would have thought that with the new gdpr rules it would have made sense to enable an opt out for all who want it
