Is there a way that once a message has been read to keep it marked as read even if the recipient has marked it as unread again? Even if it shows on your sent box "read but marked unread" or words to that effect?

Why? That would totally defeat the idea of the recipient marking it as unread in the first place. The recipient may read the message, then decide to reply later when they have time. They mark it unread to remind them, and also it helps to stop the persistent mailers who keep sending messages asking why you didn't reply to the first one they sent that they saw you'd read.

So its a read unread message if I've read correctly so they want to read it again later ? Must be because its worth reading

Nah this simply a question about something I saw in their profile. They coulda answered it there and then and that'd have been end of story or deleted it.

Completely understand where ya coming from but this was simply a question. On this occasion they were just being rude

I use it when I’m scanning my emails to remind myself to answer it later - if you have a batch of emails it’s easier to read them all then work through answering them. If I’m not going to reply then I’ll mark unread and delete.

Everyone has their own system though. I certainly wouldn’t want a function that allows people to see whether I’d read the mail when I had purposefully marked it unread though.

The person may have just popped into Fab but didn’t have time to reply to all messages, in turn mark unread to remind them later.

Most women do get a lot of mail and cannot reply to all there and then....

patience is a virtue....

If we log in on our own we will read the messages we have and then mark it as unread. Then once both of us have read we will reply to it. Sometimes we will reply straight away, even if only one of us have read it. Just depends on the message and what is asked. If it is one asking for a meet or asking us if we are interested in the sender, we definitely wait until both of us read it...

We would no doubt get impatient messages if the system changed, asking why we hadn’t replied - even though we state how we respond to messages in our profile.

We do the same if we both aren't here to reply. That way it doesn't get forgotten about when we are together and can look properly.
