Blocking Members

Why is it taking so long to block undesired members? The site kind of pauses for a minute or so when you block someone. Very frustrating!

generally the database has to update to do a few things including filtering your news feed, messages and status visibility. I'd imagine that after doing that it needs re-indexing as well.

I manage a server myself so whilst it appears to be a simple function I can assure you it's not.

It used to block more or less instantly but now takes up to a minute and you can't do anything else on the site

I think the bigger your block list, the longer it will take for the page to load. You do not need to wait for the page to load, in order for the block to kick in.

On a PC, we always open profiles using "open in new tab". This means that we can just block, and then close that tab down. We don't wait for the block list page to load.

The mobile app is even easier, as we just block and then select the home tab, as soon as it appears (usually within a few seconds).

Our block list is shockingly large. We are speaking from experience haha.
