"No thank you" button

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

There are frequent posts in the Forum from men saying their opening messages have been ignored. This is usually because they have received no reply and their message has been deleted. They also invaribly say they find this rude of the person they contacted.

So I suggest Fab should add a "No thank you" button alongside the existing "Delete" buttons. Use of this button would automatically return a stock rejection message and block any reply.

As a suggestion i have included a rejection message below....

"I have read your opening remarks and inspected your profile. I have contemplated your suitability for a meet and your compatibility as a companion and potential sex partner.

After serious and extensive consideration i have concluded that I do not wish to communicate with you any further.

This automatic message is therefore the one and only communication you will receive from me. I would respectfully ask you to note that you are now blocked so cannot reply to this message. Good bye and good luck"

There. Sorted...

That sounds like a very very good idea and I for one welcome it.

I wouldn't mind one as long as I could write my own version of 'thanks but no thanks' instead of a site generated one..... but you know it won't stop the moaning. It will just change to - why don't women reply on here, all they do is hit the no thanks button, so rude.

I think the he only solution is to ignore the forum posts.

I don’t understand why everyone replies to them whilst complaining they’re too busy to reply to messages as they’re drowning in 100s if messages a day.

Surely if you ignore the post then it won’t bother you if they’re posting or not?

Problem solved

"Or you could just ignore and delete messages that don't warrant a response"

Yes I agree you can do that. You could also message saying "Go fuck yourself looser!!"

I just thought if we could send a stock reply with the same effort as it takes to hit the delete button it would soften the blow for the many guys who genuinely find a summary dismissal upsetting.

Having a "No thank you" button available would appear to help all those on Fab; except of course those who actually want to upset other members. Needless to say the "No thank you" button would not stop those who still want to delete and block from continuing to do so..

How about a simple “No thank you, I’m afraid you are not what I am looking for on this site.

If I fit a ladies criteria and with a non pushy message I expect a reply.

If I dont then I message 'thank you for your ignorance and rudeness',to which I usually receive a reply!

The irony.

Or are you here just for attention and replies

neither.

I just cant tolerate arrogant people who only reply when their rudeness is exposed.

A 'no thank you' is respectful.A deletion, when criteria fitted,is just obnoxious.

If a lot of women on here use their filters correctly it'd be much easier.

If a message is deleted to a 'chancer' then yes,I understand that.

Dear ladies of fab. If I message you and you delete my message without replying then I can respect that as your choice. I will not delude myself into believing that you must have simply forgotten to message me back. I will simply take it on the chin like a man and move on. I don't know anyone who is everyone's cup of tea so why should I be any different? You don't need a button for the likes of me.

To the gents of fab. If you can't handle rejection gracefully you shouldn't be here.

That advice has been there for ages but has apparently failed as, even when members have read it, they still get upset by being ignored.

It'sa brilliant idea and one that had been requested by myself and a few others over the years.

There must be a strong reason for not doing it as I've yet to even see admin comment about this proposal.

I wish they would and contrary to a couple comments of ...It'll not stop guts complaining about not messaging... yes it would by probably 75 % at a healthy guess. It's not the same as being ignored completely.

It's a polite no thank you which I'd say most men on here would appreciate instead of ignored.

Nah.

The kind of men who get annoyed about not getting a reply would just get annoyed at getting an automated reply.

I guarantee that if Fabs introduced this, the forum topics would just change from "not replying is rude!" to complaining about auto replies being rude.

The site shouldn't pander to dudes whose ego can't take their messages being ignored.

If you send a message and don't get a response, just get over it and move on. Better for you, better for everyone else.

I always try and give a polite no thanks and have even chatted briefly to explain sometimes. Sadly it would appear that some on Fab appear to actually enjoy being nasty to the guys that message them or simply don't give a damn about their feelings.

we do, but it gets a bit frustrating when you reply "thanks for the interest, but no thanks." then a month later they're back again with messages or winks, think the button should say no thanks and automatically block them, saves the time wasted having to go to their page and block them. that's 30secs of our life we won't be getting back, times that by how many?

This makes no sense. How on earth do you know whether you fit my criteria? I mean, am I going to fuck every single male between the ages of 28 and 45 local to me? Of course not! It could be a plethora of reasons why not. And yeah, while your inbox is looking like the equivalent of an arctic winter blizzard of emptiness, I have roughly a message every minute coming in so often the least rude option for me is to mark unread and delete. Or spend my life politely saying no.

A button to say thanks but no thanks with the ability to customise that message would be fabulous!

Whilst this web-site may be the best there is for UK swingers it would do well to take heed of a lot of features that the previous "market leader" used to permit members? AFF, Adult Friend Finder, had a simple "No Thanks" response available as a single click as well as better filters and vastly better message controls. There are times where the simplicity of this site is simply far to simple!

Anyone sending a “Hi, how’s u” message deserves to be taken outside in a blizzard...

Sure there’s a lot of things the site could do differently but for the price we pay I think it’s excellent value.

Well constructed messages also get knocked back. It’s part of life. Get over it and yourselves guys. If someone doesn’t want to reply that’s their choice.

I don’t bother blocking people anymore either after reading somewhere that the blocks only cover a rolling 500 or so people. Block number 501 means number 1 is unblocked and so on.

If I wanted to say “I saw you in the club” I make a private note on their profile and leave it there.

We could have a range of buttons:

You think you meet my requirements, I disagree.

Your username is repulsive.

I wouldn't want your cock if it was made of 24 carat gold and you spunked Tiffany Diamonds.

Yours is the 75th unimaginative message today. Here is a link to the Oxford English Dictionary. Feel free to improve your vocabulary.

Are your profile pics even yours?

If you add all your cock pics together using an app I'm sure you would be 3d ready. However I'm not.

A button to send the flipping first message rather than mo mo moan at one line messages.

I’ve been on here on and off for about 3 years now with my wife as a couple and with our single accounts, I can say from seeing the amount of messages my wife gets constantly it’s a tough job for the ladies to keep up with it. Sometimes messages even have to be bulk deleted that haven’t even been read as there is just simply way too much of them, so even with a polite “no thanks” button, in my opinion, there will still be a lot of offended guys out there because of the high ratio of men to women. Men who don’t get replies much (yes me too on my single profile) get a bit of a dented ego when you can send many many messages that just simply get no response, but you just gotta move on guys, no need for abuse, because that will seriously not change a woman’s mind, will just simply make you look the twat!

All in all I think it’s a great idea, but when the amounts of messages keep flooding in for the women on here it may be a pointless button as a lot may end up deleted anyway without the use of the button.

Brilliant idea!

I for one don’t see the point in bitching about getting rejected but do appreciate a reply.

If the ‘No thanks’ could remain on the users profile that could be very useful.

I don’t see the point in blocking profile views as a no thanks as I like to browse and perv but to each their own.

Unfortunately an automated message won't change things .

The entitled will still feel entitled to a non generic turn down ,not just a hit of a button.

The moaners and whingers will still moan and whine ." Why do I keep getting the not interested message " or "People just so lazy the hit the automated thanks but no thanks button "

The needy will still want to know WHY exactly you aren't interested.

Instead of a thanks but no thanks button ... when you go to type a message to someone there could be a statement right there saying no response to the message you are sending is notification the person is not interested .

Unable to avoid and sets clear expectation .

I am thinking that a stock polite reply is better than a personalised one.

The aim of this is to say no and move on. I suspect from looking at some replies above some may reply very rudely to rejected guys and defeat the object of the button...

I for one think it’s a good idea. I mail a few people. More often than not hey no replies. I accept I’m not the fittest bloke with the biggest cock and rippling muscles. Just frustrates me that no one replies back.

Somewhere in Cornwall

I think it’s hard to argue with the idea - being able to send a personalised (but polite) rely at the click of a button makes a lot of sense.

All of the ladies I’ve gotten to know on Fab have been absolutely deluged all the time with messages and there ain’t enough time to reply to them all. As others have said though, the onus is on everyone to accept that they aren’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea, and especially for guys that we ain’t god’s flipping gift!!!

That said, it is depressing that where people say that they won’t reply to messages unless certain conditions are met (face pics are the obvious one) they’re still ignored! That’s where ignore and block is so useful - if people can’t be bothered to make the effort for you, why should you bother for them if you’ve expressed your preferences clearly?

Which to go back to my original point, I think it’s a good idea and worth looking at.

Alex

When I have a 'live' profile I have my own version of a "no thank you" reply.

It's simple to just copy & paste it to people. No need for a button. Just make your own reply and send it.

Which is harder?

Reading through messages and picking the ones that tickle your fancy

or

composing lots of thoughtful and unique messages and sending them to people and hoping for a reply?

Definitely a good idea as an option -

1. Do nothing

2. Send your own rejection message, which could be your standard one or personalized.

3. Send site stock rejection message

And including option to automatically block.

The stock reply will indicate no special reply was given but there was a response so hopefully stop the guys who respond with "why not me?" And "Fuck you! Stuck up bitch!!" Etc. Will stop.

The reply will also reduce the twice weekly "No one replies to me!!" Moan moan moaning.

Ok. I know this is very complicated but try and stay with me here....

Many Men complain they do not receive ANY reply when they message a woman, couple, tv, etc. They say it is rude not to reply and they are upset that the recipients of their initial message have just deleted it.

So the idea of a "No thank you button" is to enable all these amazing beauties on Fab, who get 7,000 messages an hour, to respond saying they are not interested AND say no thank you AND block the guy..... (wait for it...) with the same amount of effort it takes to hit the "Delete" button and delete the message as they do at present. There!! No more upset men with no increase in effort. Job done!!

I totally agree, I always reply with a ‘thank you’ because I feel it’s courteous, but most guys think it’s a green light to chat and then I feel mean for deleating their messages or even worse blocking them!! This is a great idea x

"There are frequent posts in the Forum from men saying their opening messages have been ignored.

"neither.

I just cant tolerate arrogant people who only reply when their rudeness is exposed.

A 'no thank you' is respectful.A deletion, when criteria fitted,is just obnoxious.

If a lot of women on here use their filters correctly it'd be much easier.

If a message is deleted to a 'chancer' then yes,I understand that."

Meeting my criteria doesn't mean I'll be attracted to someone. I used to answer every message to which a handful wd say no problem thanks for reply but I started just not replying (as stated in my profile) because more than not i get "why whats wrong with me" " you wernt my 1st choice anyway" "does it matter if im not ur type ur only looking for cock" to name a few. And believe me theres been worse and im always polite so is it any wonder i dont reply now ?? X

Why do you need to write your own?. Either way it's a no from you. So long as it states that, who cares?. Wimen state numerous times that they have too much mail.to respond to all. So surely an automated response that means the lady in question doesn't have to type out is surely the easiest and fastest way to say no thanks. Am i missing the point?

We've said it before but we'll say it again. We've had a thanks but no thanks button on other sites and it didn't produce anything positive.

It turns out that some people don't like rejection no matter how the message is delivered.

No reply means not interested.

I think there is,a direct corollation with how often fabwomen complain about the short unimaginative first messages with this. Most guys probably pissed off with all the delete and no replies and so choose the more direct lottery system of cut n paste....with probably similar results but don't feel the frustration of spending time over a message to someone they may genuinely be interested it. The otherway is just to anyone and everyone who fall inside the filtering system.

I've no doubt many will disagree but i do believe there is some truth in this method.

It'll never change either.

I have mixed opinions. This is a woman’s market. I have never had anyone reach out to me it’s usually me doing the reaching. Because ladies are in the seat of power they can choose who to reply to and it is frustrating when you try to be different in the message and be more appealing and just get ignored. On the other hand 90% of the women on here are objectified as pieces of meat and it wouldnt matter if they were fuck ugly the guys would be all over them

Just to get a shag. So when they getloads of messages then of course they are gonna switch off.

As a single guy who reads profiles and construct a well worded reply ensuring I comply with what peoole are looking for....its so very frustrating. Especially if you then see their status saying " where are all the genuine guys ?" " Too many timewasters" etc.

Now I don't for one minute expect to be liked by everyone I message...thats to be expected. I always appreciate a reply...even when it is mostly rejection...so at least you know !

So having even an automatic " no thank you " button for people to send out would certainly enhance my enjoyment of fab..and cut my frustration down. Regards.

Sounds like a good idea but then manners cost nothing to say a simple reply saying thanks but no thanks. Then again you’ll still get msgs asking why not? Or worse an insult like being called a slut or cock tease. Either way someone’s gonna complain about it.

But as a true sapiosexual that's is most unlikely as one doesn't get re interested in someone that at first clearly wasn't interested. The cunumdrum... "

"I would like to wrote my own reply... Maybe even a choice of reply.

I think giving users the options of a site created or self-created message is good, as it's personalised by the sender.

Eg, if you have already chatted, a generic TBNTA message can seem a bit out of context.

But if it's a choice of no automatic button or not, I'll take a generic button over none, any day.

"

So having even an automatic " no thank you " button for people to send out would certainly enhance my enjoyment of fab..and cut my frustration down. Regards."

You'll have to explain this to me. How is an automatic "no thanks" going to assuage your sense of entitlement and enhance your Fab experience?

"There are frequent posts in the Forum from men saying their opening messages have been ignored.

There. Sorted...

Fab used to have a no thanks button. People complained it was impersonal and it only takes a few seconds to type no thanks.

DID IT??? . When? Surely it is slightly less upsetting than a delete?"

You've said it: "slightly"...the entitled will always be upset with anything that's not what they want.

if someone spoke to you when you are out you would more than likely reply..

if you dont like the person/s there is already a no thanks button called block just block them

A no thanks button not requiredlol

A male friend came over the other night I handed him my phone he was on it for nearly an hour dealing with why nots and abuse just by saying no thanks to initial messages, how much time do you think we have? That's a ridiculous statement. And yes, I could use filters but I play a lot of the forum games so don't wish to keep them on all the time. "

"

It's a polite no thank you which I'd say most men on here would appreciate instead of ignored.

Nah.

The kind of men who get annoyed about not getting a reply would just get annoyed at getting an automated reply.

I guarantee that if Fabs introduced this, the forum topics would just change from "not replying is rude!" to complaining about auto replies being rude.

The site shouldn't pander to dudes whose ego can't take their messages being ignored.

If you send a message and don't get a response, just get over it and move on. Better for you, better for everyone else. "

Miss tress...i have absolutely not one single iota of entitlement.in my mind. All I said was for me personally a " no thank you " means they have at least read my attempt to comply with their criteria in their profile....and appreciate that they have. I'm not for them...and I feel less frustrated than getting no reply at all and so my experience of fab is enhanced.

Only my opinion of course...

I agree, and it doesnt need a long sarcastic explanation either as in the original post. Just "no thank you" is perfect and then you both know where you stand and you can block each other and never have to waste each others time again

Thanks for the reply.

We are all different. To me, an inbox of "no thank you" would be equally as disheartening as an ignored message if I took such things into account/Fab the guide to my well being etc.

That said, when visible my profile is specific in my requirements. I make it quite clear I will not respond to anyone outwith what I'm looking for. Everyone who meets my criteria gets a response regardless: those that don't I delete unread. I've never pandered to my children's hissy fits, certainly not going to take into account the egos of grown men who can't have their way. (Not suggesting for one second that's you.)

In seven years I've not had one abusive message, and only one who wouldn't take no for an answer...initially!

I'd wager the sarcastic explanation is due to the fact the profiles are incompatible but a message was sent anyway.

When visible I'm seeking white, single, straight, 50+, tall, sub males in South London...pretty specific right? Yet I've had messages from black Doms from the Midlands, bi married men from Glasgow. I ignore but can understand others taking a different approach.

I've learnt people don't act as you'd want them to. You can't control that but you can manage your own expectations: makes such a difference to your own wellbeing.

Thank you for replying miss tress. If that is your profile i would not teply. Your criteria is not my criteria so I don't reply. My sense of frustration ( but no hissy fit...just voicing an opinion) is of those whose profile i do meet. I message and ensure my message covers points in their profile and always polite with a recent pic attached. Now if I get a reply...great...we can see where things go. If I got a no thank you I would be happy they had taken the time to read my message....as we are forever being accused of just typing...hows you ? Fancy a four x ? Etc etc....i don't. I write a nice decent message. I don't for one minute think everyone will find me attractive or a sexual match....and rejection for this is also accepted without tantrums.

Can you see what I mean though when you still see those who don't send a " no thanks " proclaiming " where are all the genuine guys ?" " no more timewasters etc"....and I think to myself....you never even recognised my attempt to contact you but are condemming most of us as timewasters? Two seconds " No thanks" takes all dubiety out of it....sorted !

Your username is repulsive.

I wouldn't want your cock if it was made of 24 carat gold and you spunked Tiffany Diamonds.

Yours is the 75th unimaginative message today. Here is a link to the Oxford English Dictionary. Feel free to improve your vocabulary.

This thread as 90% of FAB threads reflect what is an inerrant problem here... Few actually what to see the others perspective. Often its because of personal insecurities and someone having a difference if oopinion or view is perceived as a threat.

May be one of the primary reasons that people change... This a shame when so many possibilities are open to people to enhance their FAB experience.

Anyway we continue with suggestions in order that improvements can be made.

Happy fabbing everyone and be a bit more open....its actually an attractive trait.

As I've said, people don't always act as we'd like. Someone totally outwith what I'm looking for contacted me and I deleted without reading.

He then had the temerity to start a thread about the rude women on Fab who delete well thought out messages. I asked if he was referring to me what part of his profile met what I was looking for?

My point is you may think you've matched the criteria but haven't. We can't control how others react. It will lead to disappointment and frustration. At the end of the day if someone doesn't want to engage with you for an intimate act you have no option but get over it.

That's not meant to be nasty, just realistic.

I think one very important aspectof this ppost has been grossly overlooked.

Having a no thank you button will not change those who will be rude... Its about those who arent that way inclined who feel it be more respectful. Id say those who don't see the respect in it arent respectful themselves...they may have been at one time but have becomes hardened and course. The same happens but in reverse id say, many guts, start off nice and respectful but in time the rejection gets to some and they then start responding in a manner which would normally be out of character.

Id still say the no thank you button would certain enhanse the experience of the nice genuine guys.... After all is that what we are trying to do?

Definitely auto block with it yes.

I raised this same thing over a year ago... had all the same arguements for not doing it. Still baffled by some who think It'll take longer for them to delete the message and then block rather than a single button saying no thanks which also can block if one opts for it.

Someone said FAB used to do it. Dont think so...and if they did it must have caused more problems for them to have respend the money undoing a no thank you button.

Can't see why you need a button ..to save 2 seconds lol

The stock reply will indicate no special reply was given but there was a response so hopefully stop the guys who respond with "why not me?" And "Fuck you! Stuck up bitch!!" Etc. Will stop.

If you reply to them any subsequent filters you turn on are useless as they can keep messaging as you have responded to their initial message. Or would you still prefer a no thanks and instant block?

Whats wrong in people (men or women) just accepting the person they messaged simply isnt interested. I always include a face picture and generally say at the end of the message that if I am not for them then I wish them luck in finding what they are looking for. If someone doesnt reply thats their prerogative just as its mine to send them a message in the first place. I dont send a huge number of messages but I accept that I'm going to get an awful lot less responses in comparison to the number of messages I send.

People just need to grow up and stop moaning.

I think that's what was mentioned and yes i naturally assume no thanks and block. However i might hazard a guess FAB owners, would not want so much blocking going on as it reduces alot of other traffick going on the site as a result.

But yes 'No thanks and auto block' button.

Just say sorry your not my type then block them , its not rocket science. We feel it is rude to have your message ignored. Simple. You will have a huge block list but after a couple of months of blocking those repeat messages from the same guys will soon die down from a flood to a managable trickle .

Ages ago I sent a single female a message. She kindly replied that I wasn't what she was looking for.....fastforward a few months later after we got chatting she found out I wasn't what she was expecting.....fastforward even more we got around to playing.

I know some of you girls and couples get inundated with messages as I have seen. So by having that specific button and blocking people who send you a polite and well written message can in reality get rid of those people you want to actually meet up with. And in all honesty i would prefer a deleted or read message pop up. Blocking from the off is harsh and would prefer to see a not looking for single guys for specification on a profile

Really is no need! All you need do is set your filters to verified couples only and you wont get very many messages at all.

Then you can just message the ones you like the look of.

A lot of messagesyou can read in the preview without even opening

Having been on and off Fab for a number of years, also had a grumble about politeness (as in, if you have sent photos to people in a second email and don’t receive a reply at all, basically suck it up!) Accepting that if you don’t get a reply if someone isn’t interested then why do people still keep your emails rather than deleting them?

That is why a button would be useful.

"...but it gets a bit frustrating when you reply "thanks for the interest, but no thanks." then a month later they're back again with messages or winks, think the button should say no thanks and automatically block them..."

Ohh I think I have done this. I have so much to deal with recently, and can get real tired, I sometimes forget I've messaged someone and they declined.

Would be nice to be able to at least know who had declined me so I don't go messaging them again by mistake.

"How about a simple “No thank you, I’m afraid you are not what I am looking for on this site.

I hope you find someone that matches your requirements soon.”

So much nicer!"

. I like this one better than the long winded message example.

"Hi, thank you for your message. I've considered your profile but unfortunately on this occasion, I don't feel I would like to take this further. Good luck with your search, happy Fabbing."

Absolutely! Apparently I'm currently getting a slating in one of the chat rooms for not responding when someone has sent a face pic. My unread messages currently stand at 974 I don't have all the time in the world but when I do have a chance I will be polite, saying thank you for compliments and no thanks if it's not for me, but it's hard to reply to everyone.

The post today has been started by a man I actually blocked because he couldn't take no thanks as an answer so started to pester by resending unread mail continually.

I have used this site on and off for a few years and I can honestly say that the needless persistence of some guys on here is really off putting and the reason I removed my last profile.

I wanted to comment on here in the hope of getting some advice on how to manage these let's be blunt, pests?! It's not making my experience enjoyable

Xx

We suppose in a way, it's a compliment you get so much attention because you have an amazing body.

If we were you, we would block men on the filter system and then you will have a clear mail box system to contact the guys that you want to meet. And get that block button working overtime at the first hint of a problem.

We avoid the chat rooms, couldn't be done with that abuse.

Good luck.

If you know you forget who declined you in the past then once declined why dont YOU block THEM as opposed becoming a nuisance. The likelihood of them suddenly changing thier minds about you are slim so why try. And for the ladies on here i have said loads of times already, a polite no thanks or you are not my type is suffice as a reply but then block them as 1 it stops you getting repeat messages fron someone of no interest to you. 2 solves this guys problem of repeat messaging you. 3 frees up your in box . 4 after a month or 2 of blocking it will either be profiles of interest to you messaging you or new profiles messaging.

As ive also said before by not using your block button as another filter i actually think some of the ladies like the attention of having lots of messages you can simply ignore.

Thanks guys! Only ever used the block button in extreme cases where I've had abusive pestering messages, not thought about it as a filter before. I will certainly give that one a try.

Thanks for the comments x

Unfortunately it wouldn't stop the but why even though profiles clearly say why. Or the rubbish such as I'm nothing near what you're looking for but my cock is about same length as a lynx can. It gets so, so boring

How about a separate reply button that when you send a no thank you reply, automatically stops the person messaging you again?
