“Post got too big”

Why is it that threads are closed when reaching typically 175 posts? You often see ‘.......part 2, 3 or even 4’ when posters have carried on in another new post. Surely it would be easier to leave any running and that way they will eventually die off, therefore leaving the forums clearer?

It's probably more to do with the amount of info stored on the main frame.

But admin could make a link and auto start a new thread
