Forum "like" button

Carlisle

I am a relative newcomer to the forum area of the site and I must say that I am quite enjoying the exchanges.

I have a couple of suggestions though. The first would be to have some sort of "like" function so that if a poster puts something that another agrees with or likes in some way they can show their support by clicking a "like"

I am on other fora (non swinging I might add) that actually have a range of option (including a "bullshit" one) but that might be too much for the market to bear so just a like one would be great.

The other thing that I have yet to get the hang of is being ablevto easily navigate back to a thread in a section that you were following or had commented on. I suspect that I am just being a bit dull here and have missed something. Others may be able to help out.

Many thanks

Riggs

If you commented on a thread you can find it by clicking on the "recent threads you posted" on link.

Thanks Nicecouple - I have now found that but not on the app. So in the comfort of my comfy chair and with the laptop humming away I have found the option. Could not find an equivalent on the app though.

Does the app show a green arrow next to your name in forum posts? Click on that and it will show the last 35 posts you made.

I like the idea of a "like" button, too.

I'm "liking" this thread.

Like.

Lots of people think they are ignored on the forum but actually there will be loads of people reading and liking their posts. They just can't fill the thread up with thumbs.

Good idea, OP

I like lists of posts and I end up using one of the 175 with a which is a waste on the thread

I'm not sure what being able to like a post or thread would achieve.

Often people feel invisible. A 'Like' of a post- similar to a 'Fab' of a pic- shows that someone has noticed them.

I think a like button might increase the feeling of invisibility. The dynamic of the forum is such that popular posters get the most responses I think it follows that they would also get the most likes. Now if we could have a "I don't want to have sex with you or appear to be a good person in the eyes of others however I find your post interesting and points well made" button...

It's catchy.

It is! And it could be shortened to a button that said "IdwthswyoatbagpiteoohIfypiapwm"!

"This is not face book "

I couldn't agree more. If you like a comment in a forum, say so. Interaction is what makes this site work. Otherwise its just feelgood software where no one talks or meets!

I thought a Forum was a place/platform for open debate and freedom of speech for everyone and anyone, not a voting system with a thumbs up or thumbs down
