This was just an idea that I had whilst using the cam chat section of the site and found that one of the users was becoming highly abusive to certain females using the cam facility.

As members are going to be in there anyway and will be monitoring what is going on, would it be a good idea to have community moderators? The abusive user was reported but it took around 3 minutes for the user in question to be banned from the room.

I would suggest that certain trusted members of the community who use chat regularly are given the power to ban someone from a particular room or be given a timeout of sorts. Not sure how this would work but think it would speed up the process of removing abusive and rude individuals from chat quickly and without too much hassle.

I would be interested to know your thoughts on this topic (also if this has already been mentioned I apologise as I saw nothing related to this on a quick browse through threads)

This already happens. The Mods are humans too, who have lives outside Fab and need sleep sometimes. Patience is needed.

What if we all had an eject button .... and lets say if the person became too annoying , if twenty people hit the eject button ... they would be banned for a cooling off period.

nope would not work, it would mean that admin / a mod on the site 24/7.

just add mods/admin to your hot list, that way you can find one on line, or just let it pass and report then block the user, thn next time you use the chatroom he/she wont show in chat..but you have to log out and rejoin the room.

O o O oo

There are mods already in chat. Three minutes seems a quick response time

Ok it is best not to talk about any bans you dispute as it is against forum rules.

The block button is there for a reason. Use it.

Unfortunately far too many love the drama of playing victim and other chatters/friends like to involve themselves. So every comment replied, is just feeding the trolls fire. If more people just ignored or hit block, the rooms wouldn't become disrupted.

The mind boggles..

...And 3 mins is a bloody good response IMO!!

"Wow a whole 3 minutes "

Same reaction.

3 minutes is nothing.

And some other said you've got a block button that allows you to not see the message from the people you've blocked.

If someone annoys/abuse you or anyone : just block, report and live your life. Simple as that ffs.

I wasn't aware that mods were already in place in the chat rooms and as I am new here just thought it might be an idea. I spoke to the other people in the room and they advised me to raise it in a forum thread.

I appreciate that the people who are mods (how do I find this out?) have lives outside of this and aren't here to listen to us whine and moan.

The reason I raised this as an issue was that there was a targeted attack on one user who was camming but had already blocked them. Just made the atmosphere in the chat room sour.

I appreciate that an immediate response is not possible at all times.

Thanks for your feedback all
