I don't know if this should be posted here but it's a genuine question.

On other forums I've been on(not dating sites) moderators have a "Mod" sign on their profile name.

I know it will have plus's and minus's but I think it would be a good thing for users of the site as when a mod posts a reply to a gray area.....people will take it as a official answer.

But all we seem to have is plain clothed police on here.

What do people think? And I will welcome a reply from admin or mods...just so long as it's not a holiday email

Regular users of the forums know who they are. I think labelling them is a bit pointless, there's always going to be grey areas on everything that's discussed, all a mod can do is close or delete a thread or comments if they go against the rules.

Yes I think it's a good idea. It's standard on the other forums I use. I'm a long term but infrequent forumite, and I only know of one mod on here.

Would that be the forum rules that are impossible to find if you're using the mobile site?

I think mods should be identified. Not everyone uses the forums regularly.

I think it's a great idea. The other swinging site i use identifies them plus they have a thread that lists them all. It's very helpful.

That's the point.....some will be on a short time and get to know who's who in a short time.

But others do not know and may have been here quite a while....so I think it would make the site a lot clearer for all users

They have a star in the chat rooms to denote being a mod, so why not in the forum? I know who they are but doubt New or infrequent posters do. Also the rules are not easily found and should be accessible on the main forum menu like recent threads you posted on and the forum search is.

" This should be posted in the site feedback forum. "

I thought it was more appropriate on here as it gives all users a chance to make their views know and admin a chance to get the views.

What I would say....until they do Please do Not name any Mods on this thread

Personally I don't think it matters. I've been given a few yellow cards and it wouldn't make any difference if I knew who it was on duty at the time.

If you need em there is a way of contacting them. If you have done wrong you have done wrong. Hold your hands up and move on.

It's not about that!

You cannot avoid them as when you log off your comments are still there.

It's about clarity

I think if you're being respectful, not personally naming people and not making specific accusations, you're not likely to ever need to know who they are?

Is there a specific reason you need to identify them?

I think it would be helpful if the mods had a "mod" tag on their usernames. Or, we could have the forum rules as a sticky thread at the top of the forum and the mods could be listed there.

The forum rules should be easier to find from the mobile site. Furthermore, there are rules that leave room for interpretation by mods - so when a mod comments in a thread, sometimes moderating an ongoing thread/discussion - it would help that everyone posting know they are a mod. That way posters don't talk back to them as if they are regular posters (which I've seen happen on rare occasions).

I know who the mods are (there are ways to tell based on posting patterns) but it should be open information instead of a question of how long you've been posting or how observant you are.

I agree having something by their user name depicting that they are a mod would be a good idea.

Two of the three mods I know of have posted and yes the idea of having a symbol to say your a mod would help if you ever need to query something.

I personally wouldn't change the way I write my posts just because a mod has commented on a thread.

Finding the forum rules using a mobile would be helpful.

The Town by The Cross

I have no problems with mods chatting incognito.

What's the point of people stopping mass kicking a victim just cos there is a bobby on the corner and then taking it up again when they think they are unobserved?

I prefer undercover police who zap offenders onto the naughty step and no messing.

Though I think it's a tad too sanitary here at times.

If mods MUST be identified then I think they should have like a bat man cloak... or a phone box to get changed in so none of us ever know who flicked the switch....

Hi Ho Tonto .....

Who was that masked man?

If I do see a mod tho ...... I will point at it and go like this ...

I personally wouldn't change the way I write my posts just because a mod has commented on a thread.

Finding the forum rules using a mobile would be helpful.

"

Would that be the forum rules that are impossible to find if you're using the mobile site?

I think mods should be identified. Not everyone uses the forums regularly.

"I think it would be helpful if the mods had a "mod" tag on their usernames.

Just to be clear... I am a regular poster.

People shouldn't need to change the way they respond to others just in case they are a Mod. You should all be able to respond to other posters like grown ups and stay within the rules. "

Sadly the rules are open to interpretation and not all written down.

I personally don't think that the forum mods should have to be identifiable. Can you imagine the size and pettiness of the messages in their in box because they have a life outside of Fab and haven't responded to a reported comment within 30 seconds!

There is a report button on every comment on here, every profile. That should be enough, I don't think they should have to deal with PMs as well.

As stated by a mod....they don't they pass them on to admin.

Lol. To be fair I am bloody scary. 5ft 1 on a good day with a very large hand bag.

Want to buy some stilettos

I like being small it lulls people in to a false sense of security. "

"I personally don't think that the forum mods should have to be identifiable. Can you imagine the size and pettiness of the messages in their in box because they have a life outside of Fab and haven't responded to a reported comment within 30 seconds!

There is a report button on every comment on here, every profile. That should be enough, I don't think they should have to deal with PMs as well."

I use another swinging website and all their mods are identified. They dont seem to have any problems because of it.

Maybe mods need a separate profile for when posting official stuff rather than private postings.

I can't understand why chat mods have a star against their name but nothing for forum mods.

I do believe that there should be a maximum time that the position can be held. To prevent the "well they would see it like that, they've been friends on here for years" conversation.

Sounds like a nice idea in theory. Unfortunately this isn't a democracy though and the mods are still doing job on behalf of a private enterprise. Even if it is on a voluntary basis.

I don't think the uptake is exactly huge Clem. I may be wrong. Can't imagine there's a rush for it.

Another polite way of telling them to go take a holiday I hope

Seriously! I think anyone sending a abusive pm to anyone should be more then banned of the forums...it should be the whole site.

And I total anti about mods having to suffer abuse....but it does work on other forums sites and it does make sense to know who is who

"I don't know if this should be posted here but it's a genuine question.

"

Most mods on here don't seem to be swingers,

lots of the chat room mods are only verified by webcam and are trigger happy to block anyone for anything from using caps lock to saying "shit"

Bit hypocritical seeing as most people are cruder than that..

That isn't why we think they need to be identified. Like others have said it's useful to know when a comment is just someone being forum police or whether it's official word from the mods. Some like to police threads to their own rules!

I think the people who have been here a long time will know who the mods are (at least three anyway as the last one is newish ) whether they "live in the forum" or not.
