How about a blog feature for site supporters? The way we imagine this, is that when a supporter writes a blog, the link to that blog can be seen on their profile. We'd find this a very useful way to write about things that interest us, and it would help viewers of our profile to get a better understanding of what we're about. Note: On the privacy question, we'd like to know that the blog would be inside the firewall, and therefore not found by search engines.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Oooh I'd love this, but it would take some maintaining to make sure the blogs aren't being used to name and shame, or spam other sites etc.

People struggle to read profiles, can't see them reading blogs!

But surely what things you are interested in would be on your profile, or am I missing something here

And like Sassy says, no-one reads profiles, they aint going to read a blog

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Sounds too facebook-y to me, but it would be a feature that people could use if they wanted, not compulsory, so no reason to object.

That's the point really. We'd rather keep the profile short as we know people don't want to read long profiles (well, we don't, anyway). A blog would allow those who like to write a place to express themselves. We're talking about stories mostly, not descriptions of what we want. The forum's fine, but the content rolls out of date.

little house on the praire

They have a blog section a site i used to use. It was brilliant, some wrote sexual encounter stories, some about serious stuff, it was really diverse what people wrote. You could reply to the blogs and they got really interesting.

How about an added link to "forum topics of interest" - I've added links to some stuff of like in the past directly on my profile.

If people do or don't want to read a profile, I can't help that, but if they do (or don't) want to read any "blogs", writing so discussions (this can lead to the stories section as well) that I find interesting then the option is there to take it or leave it - I've added something similar to my profile (not self-advertising, honest ). Just a thought

ealing

Sounds like a good idea to me and not to difficult to implement. There 1001 wordpress clones you can easily add to a website.

It would let those of us that like to waffle talk our heads off without disturbing those who can't be bothered to read.

I actually think the biggest danger would be spammers joining the site so that can put adverts in blog entries.

(I know why? I guess its like emails for viagra some idiot must fall for it).

I agree, I've just started writing about my new swinging lifestyle and have seen other swinging sites where you can do this within and some of the blogs are great. My profile is long and I want to reduce that as I know people don't read it all and I see my blog as an extension of this for those who do want to know more.
