Face Swap

So many profiles now say, "Face pic or no reply". "Send Face Pic, ours by return".

I am getting a bit fed up of putting lots of effort into reading profiles, writing a nice mail and attaching a face pic only for others to read and delete or not respond at all, not send a pic in return.

I would like to see a face pic swap utility, that allows you to mutually see each other's face pics. In other words you see that I am willing to show face pic in the email, but the other party has to accept the offer, which in turn shows their face pic.

What do others think, and would the site consider this?

Good idea OP.

The whole, "No face pic, no reply" is totally pointless anyway and I only provide a face pic if the chat goes well.

The reason I say totally pointless is that just because you like the look of a face does not mean you will get on. A few messages first isn't massively time consuming.

I'm actually tempted to attach a pic of the guy out of the Goonies at times.

So you want to see the face of someone who doesn't want to meet you. Why? What possible benefit would that have for you or anyone else on Fab?

Thing is.. the only reason they don't send one back is cos after seeing your face they don't fancy you.

Even with your idea... their face to you becomes irrelevant

Either that or they've realised they know you and the last thing they want is for you to see their faces. We've had a couple of odd exchanges on here where the person responds that they think we're very attractive and sexy but they definitely don't want to ever meet us lol We can only imagine they must be someone we've encountered in vanilla life... or at least they think we've met.

Either way, I still can't see any benefit for seeing the face of someone who doesn't want to meet you

Wouldn't need it if you're genuine as your face would be in your photos on your profile like ours are.

I like to establish if the person is someone I know before getting into conversation, I have my face on cam in chat most nights, so nothing to hide here

There appears to be no use value to it besides resolving his specific problem which he described as...

"I am getting a bit fed up of putting lots of effort into reading profiles, writing a nice mail and attaching a face pic only for others to read and delete or not respond at all, not send a pic in return."

Hence my response asking why he wants to see the face of someone who doesn't want to meet him. If there's something I'm missing I'm quite happy to stand corrected

I think you might be yes...this bit "So many profiles now say, "Face pic or no reply". "Send Face Pic, ours by return"

The suggestion is so he doesn't have to send his face pic out to people who demand a pic or they won't reply.

His suggestion will mean if the person wants to swop pics with him they will accept the request. If they don't accept then nothing is lost but he also hasn't had to send his pic to someone who may not send theirs. It isn't about wanted a pic from someone who doesn't want to meet you.

Yes, he can just avoid people who demand a pic before they will answer a mail, but this is a suggestion that might work for the people who don't like to send pics to people unless they want to swop

Oh. Well we never bother with them anyway as it's almost 99% certain they're just pic collecting fakes. Why else would you be such a rude ass?

I certainly wouldn't force a feature on the whole Fab community just for the sakes of these people

It wouldn't allow for a tactful withdrawal Once a person sends a pic and is recognised by the other, as others have said. We certainly would not use such a feature.

"It isn't being forced, it is just a suggestion "

It would just be an option....not an obligation.

But if it turns out that doing a mutual swap means you see someone you know.....then so what? Both here for same thing. I've swapped pics with people I know. Nothing to hide.

Sent face pics to a "new" member in here a while back. The reply came on whatsapp along the lines of..."didn't you recognise my boobs?" As it was someone I had met on her previous profile and had become friends.

"It isn't being forced, it is just a suggestion

So everyone would still have the option to swap face pics the current way. Is that correct?

So you'd have the choice between "I'll only show my face pics if I want to and on my own terms" or "my face pics will be swapped whether I like it or not but at least I'll definitely get to see the other person even if they don't want to meet me or would normally never want me to have seen their face as they're my boss or something".

So who would ever use the second option?

I am not sure what you are both not seeing, but the man made a suggestion of a mutual agreeing of pic swopping , nothing cumpulsory.

"So you want to see the face of someone who doesn't want to meet you. Why? What possible benefit would that have for you or anyone else on Fab? "

The point is the point is if you say no face pic no reply forces one side to have to supply a face pic. I understand if they don't like the look of me, and don't want to meet, but it's very one sided. 99 percent of the time I get no reply at all not even s no thank you. And I think it's only fair that if I have to show my face, I don't see why I can't see yours. Whether you want to meet or not.

Not displaying a face pic in public does not mean a profile is not genuine. I think my verifications prove this.

I don't display my face for privacy reasons. but I am happy to exchange face pics. I believe to root out the disingenuous profiles a mutual facility to swap face pics would help to out the fake profiles.

The trouble is op that the people who insist on face pics first do so precisely because they either want to see your face or nick your pics without showing theirs or having to prove they're real. Give them the option of mutually sharing pics and they simply won't choose it. And if you contact them to say you're happy to mutually exchange pics they won't read your invite as it won't have your face pic attached to it. All in all, they are being rude, lazy, and stacking things in their favour without having to be friendly and communicative and earning a face pic exchange.

Introducing this as an option won't change the way these people work at all. It'll only end up being popular with people like you who show their face pics alot but rarely see anyone else's. And why will they use it? Purely because they feel they're being unfairly treated... not because it benefits them in any way whatsoever. When any system that requires two parties to buy into it (as yours does) only ever attracts one of those parties... it fails to be of any use to anybody

You make a good point, but it would just be an option, and I feel that if the Party you email reads your message, is genuine and is interested from the initial mail then they will use the option. As they will want to see the face of the person that they may wish to meet, this means that I don't have to show my face to every tom dick and harry giving me a little more privacy.

The option shows that I am willing to show my face but not forced to show my face. If the person or couple does not like my message, or my profile then. They can reply or delete.

It would be similar to the improved privacy option that allows peoples pics to be removed after the mail is read. It's an optional thing, not compulsory.

I think it seems a good idea in theory, might help with the "you send your pic first" scenario and if theres a mutual interest why not.

We've found the best way to eliminate the fakes just collecting photos to wank to is to insist on a female to female phone chat before exchanging face photos . It's amazing how the fakers seem to disappear overnight once we ask for that. There are some genuine couples who won't do it this way round but missing out on those few is a price worth paying to save a lot of time interacting with the fakes .

You don't need to use the feature as with any features on here. It was a suggestion which seems to have got alot of approval. If someone states they want a face pic with first message I block and move on. If visual is so import to them we most likely wouldn't connect anyways.

It wouldn't seem to affect you if ive understood your earlier comment correctly so why be so forceful in negativity? Sounds like you're forcing your idea against Possibly progress.

OP ...its a great suggestion and one that should be explored and seeing if it can be implemented in some form.

I have face pics on my profile and when open they are visible ie not friends only

I do though ask in my narrative that I expect a photo from you on first message as you have already seen me.

It isn't totally about being shallow but there are certain types/things I have never found attractive so I know it'll be a waste of time on both sides to continue.

Send the photo with your message and I can say y/n there and then

Send a message with no photo and non I can view when clicking your profile.......

Sorry I can't be bothered to ask :/

Same here. I didn't fancy a guy that messaged me with his pic so deleted. Then get another message calling me all sorts of names because I didn't reply. If my face pic had been shown to him what's to stop him shouting abuse at me in the street as he's local to me??

There's no way to detect a face pic that isn't horrendously expensive tech. You could attach a picture of your dog and the other person wouldn't know until they opened it.
