Age Restriction filters

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

The majority of mail I get is from people who don't read my profile thus don't meet my specifications, especially when it comes to age.

Would it be possible to impliment an age-restriction filter as I've seen on other site's I've previously used? Sorry if this has been asked before, but just a thought. I'm sure it would be a very well received feature.

I could go for that as well. I'm sure admin said it's something they were looking to introduce at some stage?

This coincides with what we asked about when searching for age ranges.

So if a couples messages you with the girl of 20 and they guy of say 40 (and you limit is 35) - they will still be able to contact you (as they still get through the age filters when searching because of the girl being within the age group)...

Admin didn't see a problem with this

Does seem to increase then but given that one has to be over 18 yrs old to register, I find it difficult to understand those in their 20's looking and messaging

Ok, this is the Feedback forum not the "let's put people off posting by dissecting their spelling " section.

Age filters would be good,

just my thought, I have a narrowish (Comparitively) range, as I am realistic about who I would like to meet.

Age restictions work both ways, just because you don't want folks contacting you in a certain age group they may not want you contacting them either catch 22 if you ask me.

Oh dear, it would seem my honesty has upset some admin as my previous post on this thread has been removed. That was not my intention I can assure you. At least now I know the perameters and limitations of what you can and cant say.

Also my posts give an indication of my age and intelligance

You didn't upset me, but what you wrote would no doubt have upset the person you were talking about.

Respect of other people is a good thing, no matter what age we all are.

i can see the benifit of having this filter but alittle unsure how it would work. if someone blocked over 40s then id not be able to message them .however, whats to stop me changing my birth date to make me under 40 and then able to message them? oh god i wish i was under 40 !! lol

The filter will need to go hand in hand with some mechanism that would stop that.

e.g. restricting changing DOB to once only (to correct any mistake).

thats fantastic ! but i think this may cause more fake profiles as some would set up another profile with apropriate age on it .. also harder to report as how can you prove someones lied about their age .

as someone else mentions... it is going to work simply if you are a couple or a single after a single... because the computer and the program are going to do that simply...

but someone asked the question earlier that hasn't really been answered yet

if you are after a couple... is the age filter going to only apply to one of the people... or to both???, because I can see it not working if like someone said earlier a bigger age gap between the people....

It will require admin to force everyone to say who the male and female is on their pages - so the system can identify who's the male and who the female is (currently is doesn;t do that).

Then they have to enforce a blanket filter - so if one is outside the age range, then the whole profile is blocked, because at the moment that's not how it works, so it is a bit pointless, unless your only after singles!

It's possible - but will require more work. - although admin didn't quite see it that way as suggested earlier.

Who knows, maybe they will see the argument?

Any age filter will simply consider lowest age of a partner and highest age of a partner. It's not ideal but as has been said above it needs to be simple for people to understand and use and this seems a reasonable compromise.

Most people using it will be fems/cpls interested in ensuring inbound contacts from males are of right age anyway, we'd imagine.

I think you worded your reply wrong.. I think it should have been..

"It needs to be simple for SIMPLE people to understand"

But we understand your positioning on this, and respect it.

We agree, age filters would be brilliant as we get sooo many message from people outside our age range.

Hope it gets implemented soon!!

just for info

we have had a message from an "18" year old, and during our chat she said she was 16, reported it to admin straight away and she was removed.
