Hey all Happy New Year

Finding tons of problems with the designing of Fab.

For example I was messaged by a girl and replied and a convo exchanged and then she blocked me but I had no interest in meeting. But when I went to read back the messages they had all been deleted.

That means if you are abused by someone by message and they block you then all the messages are deleted and you have no want to track back what they said or even able to add anything to their private notes to remind you what type of person they are as their profile is not showing.

So why are we paying for this, I had just reviewed my subscription but if I had known, I would not have done it.

As a website designer, I have found a number of flaws and over the years sent messages to inform them of such but they never do anything about it or that I have noticed.

Whats your views of this as a site supporter it means what am I paying for when people can abuse us and we cant do anything about it

As long as you've kept the message from the person you can still report them and block them

Why would you want to waste your time re-reading messages from someone that's blocked you? Don't see any point to that myself, just move on

Messages don't disappear when you have blocked someone or they block you, they cab do however if the person then leaves the site totally.

For the cost of site supporting the features offered such as extra pics are great, you are not obliged to pay to use the site unlike many others so yes it works well for us.

it happened this morning and when they blocked me the messages disappeared from my sent and read files

This site is pretty great. Yeah, there's flaws but most sites have niggles.

People obviously devote a fair chunk of their lives to this. Given it's perfectly possible to enjoy the site for free without any pressure to upgrade (I do, but that's my choice), I think we need to cut them some slack!

OP, you can block those who have blocked you by either typing in their username into the entry field in the block area or blocking from their last message to you.

Also you can add private notes to people who have blocked you.

I too have been approx. 7 years on fab and seen a change. There are flaws and there are good points but just some of the flaw are benefiting the abuser, that's all.

When you understand the problems and see that it benefits the abuser, then you would think Fab would change theses of fix the bugs.

Yes you can, if you have messaged you can still go to their profile and there is an option to block. If not you can type their profile name directly onto your block list. If neither of these work I'm sure you could use the contact button to ask admin to do so for you (especially if they have been abusive).

You can block someone who had already blocked you we done it many times.

Whenever I block or blocked any mail remains in my in/outbox and the notes feature against the profile still works.

It sounds more like the person's profile has been suspended or removed by the site itself rather than them just blocking you.

And you can block back, and make private notes about profiles which have blocked you, certainly on the mobile site anyway - all the options are still available across the top when you try to click on the profile.

ffs, (sorry didn't mean to swear but) because if they block you and then you forget and then they unblock you for some reason it's so you remember what type of person they were if you see the notes you made about them on their profile

Well if you care that much (FFS) then just remember. I can remember the profile names and photos of people I think are cunts. If I can't remember them it's because I don't care. In which case, I don't care.

As an alternative opinion to most responders, this is my view:

The private notes are there for a reason, you can document something you feel is important like some info from a convo (well, thats what I use it for).

As for the site "flaws", I'll just put this down to how the site was designed way back when (10 years ago or more?), and probably could do with an update, but unlikely to happen until either this is priority, or the site owners decide to change the model which results in a compulsory subscription (yikes!).

And as for people being harsh with the "move on mate" style responses, I;ll just put that down to the OP being a single male - if it was a single female posting about being blocked by a guy she had no intention of meeting, the responses would be gushing with "oh his loss, you're obviously too good for him" and the like. Classic double standards

It's not a perfect site, for example, you can fab meet requests but can't see them fabbed so no point in that feature. Could be set out better and be more intuitive and logical too.

As it is though......it works for me.

I definitely recognise people who have come & gone over the years. If they're being a cunt there's usually an identifying trait that comes through & triggers my memory.

Her's is a flaw that irritates me. If we block single men from messaging (a block that doesn't include single men that are on our 'friends' list or we have personally contacted) all the single men who have viewed our profile will not show on 'who's looked at me' page, including single men who are 'friends'. I would like to block new single men from messaging and do our own searches. But part of that searching process is seeing who has viewed our profile. We also like to know when single men from our 'friends' list (who we welcome messages from) look at us. Therefore, in order to know which men have looked at our profile, we keep our profile open to messages from new single men, even though we don't want these messages.
