Was talking to Mr C about inboxes on Fab and how difficult they are to manage.

Any plans to change this? I think inbox with sub folders would work wonders so messages from each category go into each inbox I.e single males, couples ...

Thoughts anyone?

Great idea.

The ability to sort ascending/descending by date would be great also. Very often messages drop off the page until newer ones are deleted and if you suddenly get an influx you miss messages from users that you were talking to for a period of time until you've caught up. And this is with filters on!

Plus we've been a member for almost a year now and see the "Try the new look mailbox" option in inbox but cannot actually identify what major difference it is and when this will replace the standard inbox.

Any of those would be more helpful to try and allow people to clear out, sort out maybe free up space on the servers.

Apart from the friend logo can't remember any changes to the inbox in 6 years

Just delete all mail once you've read it .... who bothers with all the sorting, etc, its not that important, is it?

Merseyside & Isle of Man

We have regular parties which involve a lot of personal messaging as we only invite our friends or people we'd like to get to know better. Simply deleting a message after we've read it isn't really an option for us as we like to keep a thread going over several days or weeks even with any particular couple as they often contain a lot of information regarding arrangements which is useful to both us and them. This applies to our private meets too. We would simply like to see a bigger inbox as even with the best possible management of the existing inbox we still have valuable messages unavoidably "dropping off the bottom" It would also be useful to us if there was a group message facility so we could send the same message (e.g.party invite) out to many couples at once.

We delete all our read messages and make use of the notes feature on profiles. Point we are trying to make is, it's easy to fall behind on messages and they quickly pile up burying those you were conversing with. So an option to filter/sort by date, member etc would be helpful at times. Although we do try hard to keep up normal life quickly takes over at times.

Those would be great but I seriously doubt enough people pay to support the site for it to be a viable option

Then you loose the history of conversations, different ways of managing the inbox. Deleting all wouldn't work me can take me a few days to get back to people.

Thanks for the replies.

Even if it was categorised by 'friends', 'M', 'F', 'Cpl' it would make it so much easier ... we rarely send messages to single women unless they're online, if we do and they are offline I doubt said message will be read.

We'd settle for just a "read items" or "archive" folder to store historic mails in - it really would help to have the mail history stored. The private comments are great but they can't capture the full nuance of the conversation - unless you copy the whole mail in! Without some kind of archiving the inbox gets very full and busy and hard to manage. A simple archive solution would definitely get our vote...

if there was an inbox for people you had replied to before, one for people on your hot list and one for people on friends list that the mail automatically got sorted into it would be very handy

Most modern email clients allow capturing "threads" into one place.

Either by subject (useful for the party example) or user for example.

I think that would be a very handy addition to the messaging app.
