Quoting forum posts

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

As threads progress, people quote posts in order to reply, but over time the amount of quote becomes ridiculous - adding no value (as it's only the last line or two that is actually relevant to the new response) and taking time and server space.

On other sites, the forum software can be set to not allow nested quotes, so users can quote a post, but not anything the their quoted post was itself quoting.

This would, in my opinion, improve the readability of the forums immediately, and give additional savings of server space.

and miss out on scrolling 17 screens worth of quotes in a post to get to the thumbs up at the bottom
