"Why not just message them, though? Then you'd know if there was mutual attraction " because if you look at a profile and they already have you on their hotlist it would make contacting easier. And as we said, it would be an option if you wanted others to know.

"We think it would be good if there was an option to allow people to see if you have them on your hotlist, that way people would have more of an idea if there's a mutual attraction before messaging and it would certainly help single guys know who was interested in them, as they seem to get a lot of stick on some threads on here. Just an idea anyway?"

If someone is in my hotlist it's usually because I'm weighing up whether to message them or I've added them to show Paul- I don't bother with it for anything else " nit really as we see a lot of people say on their profiles that they don't respond to winks as they feel they are lazy.

They say it's lazy as it's just clicking a button, same as adding to hotlist

"No, people do use the hotlist for different reasons. For example we might hotlist somebody who looks good, but is currently un-verified, then in future we can find them again easily. On the forum, some people have even said they use the hotlist for the exact opposite of what the name implies, so they can keep an eye on people they actively want to avoid. Hotlist is private and personal, leave it so." as we said there would be an option for the person/couple to use!

"And actively want to avoid? Isn't that why the block button is there??" That's what some people do. We would would block. They want to see what the person they don't like is doing. But that's the point I'm making. You might do one thing, we might do another, somebody else different again.

Do forum search on 'hotlist' , it's been asked before. I was just summarising what I thought and what I've read before.

Those that don't look at winks likely wouldn't look at this, either. I'm all for more choice with everything on this site, I just feel like in this case the tools are already there to be used.

"And actively want to avoid? Isn't that why the block button is there??" No. For me the block button is for people I know from work that really don't need to see me on here and for people who are abusive in their messaging. The hotlist is for people who amuse me on an unmeetable level. For example there is someone on there at the moment who has been leaving at least once a fortnight for the past year.

It's actually been said in this thread.... people have said they use their hotlists differently in a few comments here. I think the closest we have to what you're suggesting is the wink feature. If I view a delightful profile and they've already winked me I can confidently start licking my lips

But you'd still have the problem that people hotlist for different reasons, so those notifications would lead to confusion. Say I hotlist someone because I think they are 'entertaining' but they hotlist me because they genuinely fancy me haha

You may also be there because you posted in the forums that one day you may play alone, so we'll sit & keep an eye on you, see if you change your wants in your profile. "It would work if there was an option to make hotlist matches public - so if you both had "show hotlist matches" turned on, when you viewed each other's profiles it would indicate that you both have each other hotlisted. But because people use hotlists in different ways this would have to be optional. " But, since lots (most??) people want hotlist to be private, wouldn't it defeat the object? You wouldn't know if you weren't on their hotlist or they had it switched off??

"People use them for various reasons other than people they fancy. do they?" Ooh Yes. We use ours for a myriad of reasons, mainly as a form of book-marking to show each other later. Reasons include: do you fancy them, that's a good photo, how about that wallpaper for the lounge, etc. I once even went through a phase of adding people I was worried might be about to go unlos. That was a particularly pointless idea I would say if you wanted to know how someone felt about you, plucking up the courage to ask is the obvious way. (not that we're much good about it either) Mr ddc
