Wouldn't it be convenient if you could arrange profiles by distance from you when browsing them instead of just within specific postcodes. It would be nice to say, limit searches to within a 50 mile radius if that's how far you're able to travel.

Just a thought!!!

I noticed you can search on [partial] postcode but there is no distance setting. Is that for paid members only?

it looks like that when you log on but then am paying member so i dnt know if its if ya pay only

This doesn't seem to do a distance search, just match a postcode. So for instance if you type in "LS" it will match all postcodes starting with LS. Not people within x miles of LS.

You can use Google geocode API to get the latitude longitude of a postcode, then simple trig will get you the distance as the crows fly. Although the API only allows 1000 calls per day for the free account, so would need to keep a record and only request new postcodes!

The list that comes up shows first the people in your area move down the list and it shows people a little further awat etc

I don't think it works like that. I just searched for the first 4 characters of my postcode and within the results I got some people in Swindon, then some people in Chippenham (approx 20 miles away) then some more people in Swindon, then Corsham, then back to Swindon, etc... etc... etc...

searches are purely by postcode, not distance

as for the order of listing; it is by when the user last logged on (not distance)
