would it not be better to have threads made into pages like(1 2 3) ect after so many posts, i dont know about anyone else but a page with 100+ posts on it sometimes take's a wee bit to load, and it would also help reading over a thread alot better if you wanted to read so much and come back to it atleast ya could say ok i was on page '3' and start where you left off...

Personally I'd prefer it if the forums were using something like vBulletin. You can then choose how many posts you want to appear on a page at a time.

It's also got a better search function too, as you can search for words in individual posts not just the title of threads which I think the current search does on here.

I also find the formatting difficult to follow on here - especially when someone has quoted somebody else, and even more so if they're quoting somebody who quoted somebody else who quoted somebody else ad infinitum. It can be difficult to follow and understand who said what... I often find myself scrolling back up a page to work out where one person's quote started and the comments they quoted ended.

There are other formatting things like bold text, underlined text, italicized text, coloured fonts, etc... which you can use too.

Also currently you can't use multiple carriage returns when you're posting here, which is sometimes a limitation.... if you're telling a joke and you want a dramatic pause before the punchline you have to use multiple lines of a single character such as a comma or a full stop which looks daft.

Other advantages are things like "spoiler" tags, where you embed some text inside a spoiler tag and it's hidden from view when the page loads and you have to click a button to display the embedded text. In threads such as Diamond Smile's Quick Quiz we could have answered the questions within a spoiler tag thereby not automatically giving the game away to anyone reading the thread.

Other advantages include being able to add functionality to embed YouTube videos, and hyperlinks work as hyperlinks, threads can be rated, you can subscribe to a particular thread and get notification when someone adds to it, etc... etc... etc...

The only problem I can foresee is taht I don't know whether there is any way to perform an Extract, Transform & Load on the messages from the current forum into a vBulletin forum, so it may mean having to freeze this one and us all migrating over to a new forum... but at the rate threads get created here, I can't imagine it'd take long for a new forum to be very busy.

I'd be interested to hear whether Admin have any thoughts on this.
