New image server

Totteridge/Whetstone

We've implemented a new image server today (8th March 2011) as part of a project to improve speed of images and the reliability of the image server.

It may be a little sluggish at points today as it regenerates cached images and we may have to restart the web service on it a couple more times as we tweak the software.

We'll be making good with extra time on all site supporter passes once we're sure it's stable.

We're also making some software changes behind the scenes to improve the situation, during the rest of the week.

Apologies to all for the problems.

Yep we still got problems.

We're working through a plan of action to fix over the coming week.

And we'll be adding time to site supporters to make good.

Explained in first message

O o O oo

( Taken from the FAQ )

Modern digital cameras take very large pictures and they will cause errors if you try to upload them to the site. If you resize the photo to 1024*768 or smaller in a graphics programme and save as a JPG or make sure they are under 1mb in size then they'll upload fine. Most graphics software will easily resize images, or we recommend the free VSO image resizer which lets you right click and resize if you're using Windows. Alternatively, lots of digital cameras let you choose a lower resolution when shooting pictures which would also work.

To be honest I can't see how it is Fab, as no one else seems to be having problems with pics?

Normally if lots of people are having problems they start lots of threads.

Have you tried using a proxy server? Vtunnel often works for me in similar situations.

1. Try another browser e.g. chrome or firefox.

2. If that doesn't work try google DNS, instructions here:

What browser were you using before and what have you changed to?

Have you setup google DNS?
