Hi. Is there any chance of having the option to show whether you are online or not? As our phones are always logged on to the site, we get a lot of mails asking if we want to chat etc. when we aren't physically browsing and so we get a backlog of mails we have to sift through. X

It'd be hidden all day then and we want people to be able to see it.

It doesn't work like that. Unless you're actively browsing (give or take a couple of minutes) the site won't show you as online.

Thank you for that. We thought it was only when logged in as we get a lot of "you're up late" messages when we are actually in bed asleep.

"I've hidden my profile, but I'm still showing as online I think "

It shows as online to those on your friends list and to anyone who has hotlisted you I believe but you won't come up in searches or anyone who clicks through to your profile from the forums.

Ah, that makes sense. I wish I could be completely offline though!

"Why don't you just log off when you go to bed? Simples???"

I wondered that too - how is it possible to actually stay logged on? I assumed the "online" status came from some kind of "active within the last 5-10 minutes" check, but if it's from having it open in your browser, just... close that tab?

No, it doesn't work like that. Only if you're online and active, does it show you as online.
