"That's a great idea. If you made it a couple of days, and restricted new members from sending any messages over the same period, you'd probably put quite a few fakes off too." That is a very good idea. Nobody can post in the forums until they've been here a week so a couple of days of just looking and getting used to the site wouldn't be that terrible.

" Would it be possible for new members to have a couple of hours breathing space before anyone can message them so they can look around the site and learn about filters etc. A single woman joining can get loads of messages within minutes of signing up and it can be very overwhelming for them. " I think this is a great idea. A lot of decent single women probably get put off straight away (and even leave the site), simply because they get bombarded with so much shit right from the get go. Giving them time to get their feet under the table is a good idea.

If new members couldn't send any messages for a couple of days, then they may well not bother coming back 48 hours later to start being active fakes.

"Could accounts start with all the message blocks applied then the user instructed to change them to what they want? Rather than the massive influx in and having to stop them Unless it's already changed to this since I signed up. " That's sounds a smarter idea

" This is a great yet simple idea. Gives people a chance to learn about how to utilise the site before they're avalanched.

"New accounts where we expect people to get lots of mail, do have restrictions on who can mail them. We look at lots of metrics and we're not totally convinced convinced that "too much mail" is a big factor in newbies giving up. Admin x " What restrictions are there?

Oh, my filters stop anyone new from messaging for at least 3 days. How long should they have a time out for? It's 7 days for the forums I think?

"I think a breathing space for new members is a good idea. Yes, new members get tips about filters, etc, but most of the tips are just 'white noise', until people have found their way round the site. A couple of hours to explore the site, without an explosion in their inbox, would be good, especially for single females." If new people cant message or experience the message how would they get the "feel" to know what filters best for them to use

"Or set it so until they loaded a verification picture up it doesn't disable - Big banner after joining saying you can't send or receive any messages until you have loaded a verification picture up - would also stop the d*unk joiners posting straight away just cus they need a wank." By doing that, you make photo verification compulsory. This would put off a lot of people, including us and is pretty pointless as it proves absolutely nothing and doesn't make any difference to the experience here

When I first joined I didn't even notice the tips, because being bombarded with mail just made me log off really fast it really put me off even working out how to navigate around the site. So it was ages before I found out about filters etc.

Photo Verification isn't just about loading any random pic up, but one that shows you holding a paper with site name, and profile name on - which at least proves that you are a couple and not some single man, either pretending to be a couple, but yet to tell his wife! or a single guy pretending to be a girl (who funnily enough only wants to meet other girls) The fact that your photo verification isn't ever published anywhere public still allows you to remain private of any public pictures. While I appreciate choice, and privacy, we equally need to improve the experience to all users on here, that get bored of fake profiles, even spotting them, still makes it annoying that you have to trawl through them in search, or delete email after email.

To be honest fake profiles easy to spot and takes seconds, i don't find it time consuming to hit block.
