My 'Free Will' thread has been closed. Why has that happened?

A thread closes when it gets too big at 175 responses

It also says under each post (thread closed, got too big) or something like that

Yeh I saw that bit but why do they close popular threads? Seems a weird thing to do unless it's a software issue or something like that

limitations of the software, i guess.

long as it closed from being too big and it was a popular thread, nowt to stop you from posting a part 2

I have sometimes seen comments added to threads after the 175 posts and after it has been closed

Is that facility only available to Platinum members?

O o O oo

There is no platinum membership, people leave the window open and post from that

PS I appreciate the platinum comment could have been tongue in cheek, but it causes problems for Admin when some people think it is serious

I've seen a comment on a similar thread that says comments can be added to a closed thread by I think, using the back button or something. The comments aren't added after its closed but are posted at the same time as its closed.

No such thing as platinum otherwise it would be listed on the upgrade page

"A thread closes when it gets too big at 175 responses

It would however say that its been closed by a mod with a comment from them as to say why

Nope, you often just get "thread closed by moderator" that's it

The mods usually post when they close the thread, although its usually pretty obvious anyway.

But dont forget that Admin also close threads themselves but it still says closed by moderator

What is the difference between 'Admin' and 'Mod'?

Do the Mods not interact on the forum then if you ask a question?

I thought a Mod might let us know why threads get closed because of their length.

Yep they do, and I think you'll find that they have

But it doesnt have to be a mod that answers questions on the forum - lots of posters have been using the site for yonks and know the answers to the common quieries, and are happy to answer questions when they can to help people out

"I thought a Mod might let us know why threads get closed because of their length. "
Long threads get AUTOMATICALLY closed by the forum software when the go over 175 posts. When you look in the thread, the "Reply in forum" & "+quote" options will have been replaced by "(closed, thread got too big)".

If a Mod closes a thread, then the "Reply in forum" & "+quote" options will have been replaced by "(thread closed by moderator)". They'll frequently make a comment to explain why the thread has been closed, unless it's glaringly obvious.
