"The only problem I foresee would be, if someone hasn't bothered to read a profile would they read or take notice of a warning?" Very true but they were warned in the same way they are for sending 2 messages, they may not read it every time it only needs to be read once and they'll know what the message was about and therefore why they were blocked.

"I have people that message that have clearly read my profile and others that will message saying they haven't (not many on either) I like the honesty from these ones. I personally don't ask people to read my profile first, but understand your point, but like another said will be easy for them just to continue and message anyway " That's the whole idea if they still message after that then we'll feel perfectly justified in blocking them as they were warned, whereas if we put it in the profile it doesn't get read.

"Would love something like this. I've had to put up a big "read before messaging" thing on my profile but since nobody reads it I still get tons of messages that're just "how r u" or other 2-3 word messages and "do u want 2 meet 2nite" (when I clearly say I can't do short notice). A possible better way around it would be to move the profile text to nearer the top when viewed on mobile - I asked a few people earlier who clearly hadn't read my profile (and they admitted they hadn't) and they said they were all using the mobile version of the site, which has the profile text right at the bottom, with pictures at the top, so half the people on their phones just look at the pictures and charge right in with the message if they like what they see. So yeah, perhaps a little bit of rearranging on the mobile site?" I totally agree with u, as I can't be bothered with their mails if they can't take 2/3 mins out ov their day to read my profile write up.. They got time to view & the fab pics tho... :-/ & people who repeatedly pop back wen u tell them "theyr not your type", it's shitty to have to say in the 1st place, but to pop up every few wks hoping u'd ave forgotten who they are & change your mind just dont work for me.. If u didnt fancy them then wot makes them think you do now?! What happened to onwards & upwards?? xx

"I don't think it matters what you put in your profile people will message regardless.... Using the filters may help if you are getting overwhelmed with messages" you've hit nail on head beautiful it doesn't actually matter if it did messages would stop ,these guys need a woman and you are one let them in ,what's the worst that can happen

"Would love to have a feature where anyone who contacts us reads a message that says something along the lines:- "This profile has requested that anyone who contacts them has read their profile, failing to have read the profile may result in you being blocked are you sure you wish to contact them?" I know we could ignore them etc and that it helps some filter out the type they're not looking for. We already have a similar message if you send a 2nd message without having got a reply so it would be good if it came up in the same way when someone winks or messages. There's no point putting it on the profile as obviously it doesn't get read and sounds negative to those who do read it. Does anyone else think it would be a nice feature if we could tick a box that activates the warning?" I have raised this before, if you view profiles on a mobile phone first you see the messsage and wink buttons then the pic and one line of heading, then the other public pics and eventually the description and profile. Nobody reads that far on a mobile. It is basic web design stuff but they pay no attention when you raise this issue. I even get posts deleted for mentioning it in the forum's site feedback.

"I don't think it matters what you put in your profile people will message regardless.... Using the filters may help if you are getting overwhelmed with messages" We're not overwhelmed, it's not even messages more often than not, it's winks from guys, as it's me the male half that manages this site it drives me crazy when I see a message or a wink and I think "it says in the profile she likes guys taller than Her and you're the same height?" then I think "ok maybe there is something interesting in his profile text, nope just the usual looking for NSA fun ask me anything" So "ok his pics" nope... Etc I can go on and on so I end up blocking them because they (heaven forbid I use this phrase on here today ? Topical joke that I hope someone gets ?) aren't our type. The point is we use filters but they have their limitations as does this original suggestion but if it means we don't end up blocking that one misguided soul who actually we could have had real fun with who maybe clicked "Wink" because he was new and got a little eager. And for those that just ignore the warning well they have no respect for boundaries and we will gladly block them.

"The only problem I foresee would be, if someone hasn't bothered to read a profile would they read or take notice of a warning? Very good point!" It is but as I suggested in a previous, a similar warning comes up if a 2nd message is sent and you have to click ok, everyone either chooses to ignore it or not To us those that would ignore the warning are of no interest as we would consider it to be disrespectful. In the same way as if we said no anal and they tried for it anyway.

"You could argue there isn't a difference, however we seem to be blocking a lot of people who don't read any of our profile before contacting us, so thought it might help for those who might be a little too green or eager by giving them an opportunity to stop and think." Maybe give them a chance if you get the feeling they are new and/ or eager? Ignore the obvious idiots. But sometimes there are good people too that might get missed if you react too quickly.
