Yes I know that mods have a sometimes difficult time but does site think it's fair for mods to close threads without an explanation? And for a poster to end up in the naughty step without recourse to discuss such a ban?

Honestly, it's not that important.

Never sure why this happens....

notts

I guess that if the thread was removed, there would have been some sort of violation of the site rules.

and if it also incurred a ban, it would mean it was quite a serious violation of the site rules.

Just my guess on the subject but if your not happy with the treatment, then use the contact button at the bottom of the page

This isn't an attack on moderators cos I know they have sometimes difficult decisions to make. But surely an explanation as to why a thread is closed isn't too much to ask?

I agree it's frustrating. How are we meant to not do something again if we don't know what was wrong in the first place?

Think on many occassions its the discretion of the mod, some are very quick to close topical political conversations when it seems that posters are getting a little under the collar. Others are quite happy to let them run.

Would say move and dont stress about it.

Sometimes posters just use common sense , read the thread and don't need a reason from a moderator, but moderators nearly always give a reason when a thread is shut. Obviously if a thread is taken off there would be no where to add a comment.

To your other point, yes you can dispute a ban if you think a mod has it wrong ( and we all get it wrong sometimes )you just can't do it on the forum which is all explained in the forum rules.

http://www.fabswingers.com/content/forum-rules

If you ask Admin from the CONTACT button they will review it for you, if they think it is the right ban you won't hear anything, if they think a mod has it wrong they will overturn it for you and let you know.

People will say this never happens, but it does and the mod given feedback.

Pointless when the ban is for an hour or a day and admin take two days to look at the dispute.

If you send something to Admin from the CONTACT button it doesn't take up to two days for them to investigate.

Reports yes, but that is done a different way as there are hundreds of them a day so it does take time

Some Mods will leave an explanation before closing a thread, or its closed because there's a similar or duplicate one. True, they might sometimes only be on a limited time as it's voluntary & they have their own lives to lead & still have to enjoy the site for the reason we all come.

To those that think it's easy or want more from the Moderators they could always volunteer to give up a few hours regularly to help moderate, give up some of their site time to merge threads, make decisions on whether a member is being rude to another, help settle disputes, pass thousands of pics uploaded a day, & generally help the running of the site. Try it. You'll find you'll soon see it can be demanding of your time & gain an understanding of what they do that benefits the users.
