Chat update tomorrow 12th Nov

We're making a change to newchat tomorrow based on your feedback.

Unless you are a site supporter it will only be possible to enter one room at a time (except PMs where you can still open multiple)

Had lots of feedback people were entering multiple rooms at the same time and clocking them up despite not being active in them. Hopefully this will help that.

We've now made this change.

This release also contains some behind the scenes tools that we hope will help track down some remaining bugs.

Still haven't fathomed out why anyone, site supporter or otherwise, needs to be in more than one room at a time

I'm sure there must be a reason, it just hasn't quite registered with me yet

If you have a decent sized screen you can have multiple windows open and multi-task

Any progress on the "tabbed" chat windows that have been mentioned?

Any plans for more directing rooms? The current ones are frequently full.

Also, I previously suggested "When you look at your hotlist it has a speech bubble if a member is in chat. Is there any way that this could be made a link to take you to the same chat room as them?". Any possibility?

Tabbed = work in progress, results not likely until early next year it requires some prototyping work that is going to take a bit of time.

We'll add another directing room if they fill up now we've made the above change. We'll monitor over the next couple of days.

Hotlist direct to chat. Not likely, chat doesn't like being loaded with windows open.

Thanks for the update. If you need any assistance with alpha/beta testing, let me know.

If a hotlink to chat is not possible, what about a tooltip telling you which room they were in?

Well that's how it was when we were ever in new chat. We'd swap rooms expecting to leave the original room and go into the new one, like Userplane, but as we found out, that wasn't the case and we ended up being in 3 rooms at the same time

its only really the directing rooms being used its a shame really, i think close the old rooms down for a day, iv heard a few in ireland room saying new rooms are hard to use but if they come in and give it a go there is always someone there to help them out
