Totteridge/Whetstone

We've updated the new chat room.

These are the changes:

* Mods can now apply bans...

* Site supporters will see an option to launch a large cam in a floating window (there is an "enlarge" icon on the cam you're viewing to pop it out)

* The "dock" button on the can you're viewing is now a green right arrow rather than the word "dock" (because we were running out of space with the enlarge icon).

* We believe that we've fixed the problem with users getting "stuck" in chat.

We hope to move newchat out of beta and open to all users sometime in November. We will keep old chat running side by side.

We know there is still a problem with some people not being able to broadcast their cam in newchat. We are working on fixing that.

As always, feedback welcome.

Thanks

BUMP:

We've now made changes so that the enlarged floating cam window has more space to float in (can float over the whole screen).

And we've made changes so that chat is more quick+responsive in evenings when site is busy particularly docking/undocking/viewing cams etc.

Any feedback? Anyone tried the enlarged cam? Like it? Hate it? Let us know!

When you do this, how about making a list of them on the page where you enter chat along the lines of:

; - ) =

: - ) =

: - O =

8 - ) =

Etc, so users know how to get them.

Should work fine we test in firefox. What exactly happens?

Can you give a try in Chrome on the same machine see how that works?

I have started using Apples Safari browser (on a Windows 7 PC) and finding it much better than Chrome, which I thought was good too....and the floating cam works in that too.

Ahem, keep it quiet, but any chance of "enlarging" what others may wish to see on my cam?
